Exempt | Full-Time | On-Site | Outpatient Healthcare

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our growing healthcare organization. This position will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and internal controls while working closely with executive leadership to support financial stability and organizational growth.

The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, excellent analytical skills, and preferably experience in healthcare or physician-practice accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reconciliations.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash-flow reports, and budget-to-actual comparisons.
  • Manage and maintain accounting systems, including QuickBooks Online Advanced.
  • Monitor organizational revenue, expenses, profitability, and cash flow.
  • Develop budgets, financial forecasts, and reports to support executive decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and fraud prevention.
  • Collaborate with billing and revenue-cycle teams to reconcile collections, contractual adjustments, and outstanding receivables.
  • Analyze financial performance across departments, providers, and service lines.
  • Monitor financial transactions to identify discrepancies, unusual activity, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, and financial institutions.
  • Support payroll accounting, labor-cost analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee monthly and year-end closing processes.
  • Provide financial guidance and recommendations to the CEO/CFO and organizational leadership.
  • Supervise accounting personnel and support departmental efficiency, accuracy, and accountability.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience preparing financial statements, managing budgets, and performing financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial information and communicate findings effectively to leadership.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare, physician practices, or outpatient medical organizations.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online Advanced.
  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, medical billing, insurance collections, and revenue-cycle operations.
  • Experience with financial analysis of fee-for-service and value-based-care revenue.
  • Previous experience supervising accounting personnel.
  • Familiarity with eClinicalWorks or similar electronic health record/practice management systems.
  • CPA, CMA, MBA, or equivalent advanced financial or accounting training.
