INTRODUCTION
Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Financial Analyst to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Financial Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating financial data, ensuring compliance with budgetary and reporting requirements, and providing actionable recommendations that support financial strategies and organizational goals. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Analyzing budgetary data, expenditures, and financial reports to assist with accurate financial forecasting and planning.
- Preparing and delivering financial reports and summaries in compliance with organizational, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitoring financial accounts and performing variance analysis between budgets, forecasts, and actual performance.
- Assisting with budget formulation, allocations, and tracking of financial transactions to ensure adherence to approved budgets.
- Evaluating and identifying trends and risks in financial performance and preparing actionable recommendations for leadership.
- Supporting the month-end and year-end financial closure processes, including analyzing expenditures, journal entries, and accruals.
- Collaborating with team members, contract administrators, and program management to ensure accurate financial implementation for projects.
- Providing insights and data support for pricing strategies and cost analysis during the bid or proposal development stage.
- Maintaining financial data accuracy through the use of financial software systems such as SAP, Deltek, or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Participating in audits by preparing analysis and reports required by internal and external auditors.
- Assisting in the development of cost-control measures and ensuring compliance with internal financial guidelines as well as federal regulations such as FAR/DFARS.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of financial analysis, accounting, or budgeting experience, preferably in a government contracting or defense industry setting.
- Proficiency in working with financial management systems
- Strong understanding of budgetary processes, financial reporting, and forecasting methods.
- Familiarity with U.S. government financial regulations (FAR, DFARS) and experience preparing financial analyses in line with compliance standards.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (e.g., pivot tables, advanced formulas, and data visualization).
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to present data insights to both financial and non-financial audiences.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year at the time of hire.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), or CGFM (Certified Government Financial Manager) are highly desirable.
- Experience in OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) operations or working in remote and austere environments with multi-national workforces.
- Familiarity with U.S. Navy financial management operations or military contracting procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and improve cost-control strategies.
