Financial Analyst, Client Finance
Position Overview
The Financial Analyst, Client Finance supports the financial management and operational performance of assigned client accounts. This role partners with Project Management, Account teams, and Finance leadership to monitor project financial performance, maintain forecasts, and ensure timely billing and accurate project financial reporting.
The Financial Analyst plays a key role in maintaining the financial health of client work by tracking budgets, analyzing financial performance, and identifying potential risks or variances across projects. This individual helps ensure project financial data accurately reflects project progress, scope, and resource utilization, enabling teams to make informed operational and financial decisions.
This role also contributes to the agency’s revenue review and financial control processes by preparing financial analyses and supporting documentation used in revenue recognition and project financial oversight.
Primary Responsibilities
Project Financial Management
- Monitor project budgets, actuals, and remaining balances across assigned accounts.
- Maintain accurate project financial data within agency financial systems.
- Partner with Project Managers to ensure financial data reflects project scope, staffing plans, and project progress.
- Track financial performance and identify potential project overages or scope risks.
- Forecasting & Financial Analysis
- Prepare and maintain project revenue and staffing forecasts.
- Analyze forecast versus actual performance and identify material variances.
- Prepare financial analyses and reporting used by Finance and account leadership to evaluate project performance.
Billing & Financial Operations
- Prepare client invoices in accordance with contractual billing terms and agency policies.
- Compile and organize supporting documentation required for invoicing.
- Monitor billing schedules and help ensure timely invoicing and revenue realization.
Revenue Review & Financial Controls Support
- Prepare project-level financial analysis used in monthly revenue review processes.
- Identify differences between project budgets, billings, and revenue calculations and escalate potential discrepancies.
- Partner with Project Managers to gather project status information supporting revenue review.
- Maintain documentation supporting project financial performance and revenue recognition processes.
- Assist Finance teams with documentation requests related to financial reviews or audits.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years of financial analysis, accounting, or project finance experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
- Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience working in professional services, consulting, or advertising agency environments preferred
- Experience working with project financial management or ERP systems used to support project budgeting, forecasting, and billing processes is a plus.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 USD
BGB Group is headquartered in New York City, and the salary range listed reflects the expected base compensation for this role in the New York City metropolitan area. This position may be performed remotely within the United States. For candidates located outside the New York City area, compensation will be adjusted to reflect the applicable market for the employee’s primary work location. Final compensation will be determined based on geographic location, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
