Job Summary:

Department of Psychiatry Research and Clinical Financial Analyst
This is a one-year term position. Full-time, exempt salaried position, fully benefits eligible.
Coordinate, monitor, analyze, and preparation departmental budgets and financial analysis; conduct complex financial and budget analysis to assess and enhance financial and related operational methods and activities; prepare financial and cost accounting reports.

Key Job Functions


Financial Management

  • Prepare annual budgets for Academic Program Support (APS), gifts, residuals, and endowments
  • Monitor APS, gifts, and endowments on a monthly basis to ensure funds are used according to institutional policies and procedures
  • Provide recommendations to leadership on the strategic use of endowments, gifts, and residuals. 
  • Review and approve expenses for  APS, gifts, and endowments, including verifying expenses are allocable and allowable according to endowments and gifts purposes
  • Ensure APS funds are spent based on VUMC policies
  • Review monthly expenses for APS, gifts, and endowments
  • Prepare monthly reports for APS, gifts, and endowments
  • Review monthly expense reports with faculty
  • Oversee gift cards  process, including the purchase, tracking, and accounting in accordance with VUMC policies and procedures
  • Work with faculty and staff to prepare clinical trial budgets
  • Work with clinical trial sponsors in negotiating trials in accordance with the department needs and VUMC policies and procedures
  • Review clinical trials payment term and reconcile payments
  • Monitor clinical trials revenues and expenses
  • Prepare ad hoc reports as needed
  • Assist with completing the annual space and equipment surveys
  • Process recurring monthly and quarterly journal entries
  • Prepare and process PCAs and PAAs for effort changes
  • Other duties as needed

Contracts Management

  • Prepare contract requests for review
  • Track contract revenue and expenses 
  • Work in PEER system

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required - accounting or financial focus preferred
  • 3 years related post-degree work experience required

Position Preferences:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience
  • Strong attention to detail is a must
  • My Workday experience, especially in reporting
  • Grant post award experience
  • Experience working in the PEER system
