Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with strong accounting expertise and a passion for delivering accurate financial insights? We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Mauritius and play a key role in supporting multiple international entities across Mauritius, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the full financial accounting function, contribute to strategic financial decision-making, and lead a Finance Officer while working within a dynamic international business environment.

Key Performance Outputs

Financial Reporting & Management Accounting
  • Take full ownership of the General Ledger and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts within reporting deadlines.
  • Analyse financial performance, investigate variances, and provide meaningful commentary on key business drivers.
  • Calculate and review trading profitability and gross profit margins.
  • Prepare management reporting packs for senior leadership, executives, and board stakeholders.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure all reconciling items are resolved timeously.
  • Maintain and review the fixed asset register, including capitalisation, depreciation, useful lives, and residual values.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow Management
  • Prepare annual budgets in collaboration with management and department heads.
  • Develop and maintain weekly cash flow forecasts.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyse project costs, revenues, and profitability.
Taxation & Compliance
  • Prepare and review tax and statutory submissions, including VAT, GST, BAS, Plastic Tax, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with tax authorities and advisors across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS for SMEs, statutory regulations, and company policies.
  • Support external audits and coordinate audit requirements and responses.
Financial Governance & Controls
  • Ensure strong internal controls and adherence to financial policies and procedures.
  • Review and approve creditor payments, reconciliations, provisions, accruals, and journals.
  • Manage foreign currency transactions and monthly revaluations.
  • Oversee shared services cost allocations and recoveries.
  • Support operational stakeholders with financial guidance and policy compliance.
People Management
  • Lead, coach, and support a Finance Officer.
  • Foster a positive and high-performance team culture.
  • Conduct regular staff check-ins and performance discussions.
  • Support employee development and engagement initiatives.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements

Qualifications & Experience
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar Financial Accountant position.
  • Strong ERP experience, preferably with NetSuite.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience working with multiple foreign currencies.
  • Proven experience in:Management accounting, Budgeting and forecasting, Balance sheet reconciliations, Cash flow forecasting, Financial reporting and analysis
  • Strong understanding of tax compliance and company taxation will be advantageous.
  • Experience within the agriculture industry will be advantageous.
