CUMULUS MEDIA | Atlanta, GA has an immediate opening for a Staff Accountant located in our corporate headquarters (Buckhead) is responsible for supporting the Accounting Manager in carrying out the responsibilities of the department. This position is also responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and detailed reports. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills, written and verbal as well as outstanding organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
• Performance of their assigned duties to ensure an accurate, and timely, month-end, quarterly, and year-end financial close
• Coordinate and execute all month-end close activities based on the close schedule
• Assist the Accounting Manager and Director of Accounting with daily financial information requirements
• Prepare and gather supporting documentation and explanations for monthly financial reporting, budgeting/forecasts, and analysis for Senior Management review and follow up on any open items
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, supporting workpapers, accruals/re-classes, and variance analysis
• Apply cash received and prepare subsequent Accounts Receivable reconciliations
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
• Analyze location (Market) expenses, including comparisons to budget, and trend results
• Respond to inquiries from Senior Management, internal and external auditors, regarding financial results and special reporting requests
• Support Accounting Manager with special projects
• Manage workload and prioritize job tasks in order to meet deadlines
• Comply with corporate policies and procedures
• Comply with US GAAP, COSO, and SOX in concert with our internal controls
• Interface with management in various departments
• Overtime hours and adherence to a professional dress code are required with this position
• Other duties, as assigned

Job Requirements
Experience and Qualifications:

• 1-3 years accounting experience, with the month-end close processing experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
• Must be detail oriented
