Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant. As a Staff Accountant, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
In this position, you will report to the Senior of Corporate Accounting. The Staff Accountant will also work closely with other senior accounting team members including the Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting Manager, and other key stakeholders in the accounting and reporting function to assist in supporting our monthly, quarterly and year end close as well as external reporting process. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and key analyses to accounting operational support to the Company. This position will mostly work remotely, periodically working on-site at our headquarters to facilitate team collaboration. A successful candidate will have an accounting background and apply their accounting knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical skills to be a part of a dynamic, first class accounting team for a high-growth, high-tech company.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze accounts, journal entries and other transactions according to Company procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Prepare account reconciliations and associated financial analyses to ensure timely and accurate issuance of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Analyze accounts to develop insights and opportunities for improved information quality and automation, including the proactive development of new key reports
- Perform Sarbanes-Oxley key controls in a timely manner and assemble certain audit deliverables
- Generate processes for month end close
- Identify opportunities to make all procedures more efficient and accurate
- Support the accounting department in special projects as needed

- BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
- Strong analytical and organizational and presentation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage deadline requirements and multi-task projects
- High competency in Microsoft Excel

Our HQ is located in College Park, Maryland and we are a 15 minute metro ride from Washington DC. We are actively building out teams in the Washington D.C., Seattle, and Boston metro areas and will want to locate you in one of these geographies.
