The Senior Payroll Rep (tax) works in a team of four responsible for processing multi-state, monthly and semi-monthly payrolls for 5,000 U.S. employees. Working collaboratively with other internal teams, this important role administers and analyzes payroll data. The Senior Payroll Rep will be responsible for research and resolution of federal, state and local tax inquiries and assisting the team with payroll processing and general ledger payroll account reconciliations.

As a Sr. Payroll Tax Representative, your responsibilities will include:

Payroll processing:

  • Collaborating with various teams to run processes necessary for completion of monthly and semimonthly payrolls.


Tax authority and vendor inquiries:

  • Preparing data for payroll audits and tax inquiries.


Documenting tax and general ledger adjustments:

  • Maintaining general ledger account reconciliations for payroll tax accounts.


Client service and collaboration with internal teams:

  • Responding to payroll inquiries from employees and outside clients via telephone or payroll email box.
  • Providing system guidance and direction to employees on all payroll related issues.
  • Problem-solving and interpret complex requests, escalating when appropriate.


Reporting, System Updates and Projects:

  • Handling various projects relating to Payroll and Finance functions including account research, federal, state and local tax changes and compensation research.
  • Assisting with data analysis and reporting requests which may include partnering with internal or external teams.
  • Assisting with testing of system enhancements and upgrades.


Overall:

  • Effectively communicating with a variety of internal and external parties (associates, team members, managers, auditors, vendors, federal state and local agencies) for the purpose of ensuring accurate processing of payroll and payroll tax data.


What we need from you:

  • Minimum 3 years of payroll and payroll tax experience in a large, multi-jurisdiction organization.
  • Experience with Workday payroll highly desired
  • Strong analytical skills, detail oriented, proficient in excel.
  • Research and or reconcile prior period tax issues
  • Must be able to create account reconciliations that clearly identify support through general ledger.
  • Experience reconciling and preparing W-2 and W-2C forms.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and in a constructive manner with management, peers and coworkers
  • Provide high level customer service by proactively communicating and escalating issues appropriately.
  • Identify and recommend process improvement opportunities with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Must have the ability to document issues and assist in problem solving in a team environment.
