Veritone, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to assist with the essential accounting transactions for our advertising agency, Veritone One. This position will work with the larger accountant team and Accounting department in our Remote First environment to handle revenue recognition, month-end close processes, and client accounts. Candidates for this role must have the ability to engage with other parts of the business and think critically about the impact of the transactions from both an accounting and business perspective.
What You’ll Do
- Integral part of the revenue recognition process for our high-volume advertising agency
- Involvement with the monthly close process, including accruals and prepaids
- Prepare month-end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Assist in drafting financial statement packages to help Corporate with consolidated financials
- Interact with other departments, including Account Managers, regarding client accounts to determine treatment of transactions for completion of client reconciliations
- Assist with collection efforts of assigned clients, including attendance in aging meetings
- Completion of client true ups, including creation of incremental invoices and credit memos
- Assist department in obtaining vendor bills to close out client projects
- Provide supporting documents and assistance with requests for annual and quarterly financial statement audits
- Proactively seek out process improvements, make recommendations for those improvements, and implement agreed upon changes
- Assist in documenting and updating policies and procedures
- Adhere to procedural workflows and proper financial controls with a SOX compliant environment
- Assist with implementing system improvements (NetSuite) and migration to new ERP, Oracle
- Attend various meetings as needed
- Other duties and projects as assigned by Controller
What You’ll Need
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 4-5 years of accounting/finance experience
- Experience with accounting software
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with MS Excel
- Highly detail-oriented in a high volume, dynamic environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Positive attitude with an ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally across various departments
- Excellent organizational skills and a solution driven approach to problems to add value and create efficiencies
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
Bonus Points If
- CPA (active or inactive)
- Mix of public accounting and private industry experience
- Prior experience with NetSuite and/or Oracle
- Previous advertising agency experience
