About the Role

Caribou is looking for a Senior Accountant with a high level of integrity and enjoys working in a fast-paced high growth environment. As a member of Caribou’s Finance team, this person will work directly with the Accounting Manager on building a scalable accounting system & business processes to support Caribou’s next phase of growth while hyper focused on the precision of our accounting records. This role will include:

  • Ensure strict adherence to GAAP and best in class accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the month end close process by preparing and entering journal entries in accordance with pre-established deadlines.
  • Responsible for daily refinance loan activity and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis and ensure they tie out to the general ledger.
  • Work alongside the Accounting Manager to help develop and document accounting business processes and internal controls.
  • Assist in analysis, reporting, and variance reviews against prior month and budget.
  • Support and participate in implementation of the NetSuite accounting system, including the loan tracker automation.
  • Respond to information requests, as needed.
  • Assist with other responsibilities and projects, as needed.

This role can be based out of Caribou offices in Washington, DC; Alternatively, the Senior Accountant may work remotely within a reasonable distance to the DC office as this role will require attendance at occasional in-person team meetings. As a result, candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to be eligible for this position.

 About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
  • Public accounting and/or large corporate experience strongly preferred
  • ERP systems experience required & systems implementation support a plus, Netsuite preferred
  • 3-6 years of related accounting experience
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality
  • Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills
  • Able to collaborate outside of the finance function
  • Possess a teamwork orientation and also be able to work independently
  • Flexibility to quickly adapt when other high priority needs cause priorities to change
  • Advanced Excel skills and be able to manage large datasets
