The Senior Accountant will primarily be responsible for driving the month-end process, SOX controls and documentation, reconciliation review, and enhancement of financial statement preparation and internal review process. This position is also accountable for the ongoing oversight of process improvement. The ideal candidate should have substantive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, processes, and procedures and will be involved in laying the foundation of a scalable accounting function. Experience in a public company is a must.

What will you own?

  • Support management of Company equity plan program. Ensure grants are processed accurately in the software tool and appropriate taxes are processed in the payroll platform ensuring compliance with US and international tax laws.
  • Manage process to maintain the company's equity data. Prepare custom reports for internal and external auditors, responding accurately, thoroughly, and timely to auditor requests for data. Perform reconciliations to review accuracy of equity and transaction data.
  • Responsible for reporting and managing all equity-based transactions
  • Assist Markforged payroll function with reporting equity compensation
  • Be responsible for assisting with month-end close process, which includes balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, ad-hoc analyses, and trial balance reviews.
  • Coordinate control testing with Internal/external resources and support the timely execution of testing.
  • Perform follow-up on the status of outstanding control deficiencies and assist process owners in the design and implementation of process improvements
  • Collaborate with process owners and others to build knowledge and understanding of risks and controls
  • Identify areas of opportunity for process improvement.

What you have:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years of financial accounting experience with Big 4 or national public accounting firm and/or industry experience
  • Prior experience designing, implementing, or documenting policies and procedures—in a SOX environment
  • Experience with the following systems is preferred: Shareworks by Morgan Stanley, SAGE X3 and Netsuite
  • Maintain a high level of integrity, confidentiality and professional skepticism.
  • Experience working in a collaborative and fast moving environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, well-organized, solution-oriented
  • Comfortable working against deadlines
