Revenue Financial Accounting Manager - Retailer Revenue
The Revenue Financial Accounting Manager reports to the Director of Revenue Financial Accounting, who reports to the Controller of Instacart. You will be directly responsible for the Retailer Revenue stream and all aspects of the team from technical accounting, close operations, SOX compliance, and internal/external financial reporting.
The Retailer revenue team is highly collaborative with internal stakeholders, such as Legal, Sales, Product, Data, and Accounting Operations to ensure the monthly, quarterly, and yearly Retailer revenue and costs are complete and accurate.
The perfect candidate that will thrive in this role will have excellent business acumen, in-depth technical revenue accounting knowledge of ASC 606, team management experience, and a passion for working with cross functional teams to build out best in class record to report processes. The position also requires a fundamental knowledge and experience with month end close procedures, controls, analytics, foreign currency issues, reporting to executives, and working with external auditors.
ABOUT THE JOB
- Oversee the retailer revenue team including resourcing strategy, setting the team culture, and monitoring members in their career development
- Lead the month end and quarter end revenue close activities including reviewing flux analyses, journal entry workpapers, reconciliations, and financial reporting for internal and external reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP for assigned areas
- Prepare monthly KPIs related to deal structure, revenue recognition and reporting.
- Design and implement accounting processes for month end close relating to new business initiatives while promoting a strong control environment with cross functional stakeholders
- Establish and maintain formal accounting policies, practices, procedures, and process improvements in accordance with US GAAP and SOX
- Clearly understand the “why” and “how” and guide the team to solve problems
- Project manage large scale programs and initiatives that impact assigned areas
- Work continuously to improve the automation of the revenue recognition processes and system efficiencies.
- Participate in revenue accounting audit and providing PBC support

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields with 5+ years of relevant experience in Accounting or Finance
- Big 4 Public Accounting Experience as a Manager or higher
- In-depth knowledge of ASC 606 Revenue from Contracts with Customers
- Experience in both a high growth, fast-paced startup environment and established public company setting is highly preferred with expert ability to switch between competing initiatives as needed and build out processes
- Strong written, oral communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word / Excel
- CPA or inactive CPA is required
Bonus if you have....
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Financials, SAP or other major ERP system
- Experience with Altryx, SQL, and/or Power Pivots
- IFRS accounting experience
