Position Summary:
JumpCloud is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join our small but growing team. This role will report to the Accounting Manager and offers a great opportunity to be a part of a burgeoning startup headquartered in Colorado.
The Payroll Administrator will oversee all aspects of the payroll process including compliance with local taxing authorities, completion of all payroll account reconciliations, and timely filings of all required year-end reporting.
The type of individual that will be successful in this role must be analytical in nature, detail oriented, and possess a strong understanding of payroll systems, data analysis, and Excel skills to ensure the integrity of information when recording, verifying, and reconciling transactions. Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Manage workflow to ensure the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payrolls
- Understand proper tax treatment and processing requirements for wages and employer paid benefits
- Monitor changes to federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation in order to enforce adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions
- Ensure timely payment and recording of all payroll and benefit-related liabilities; complete monthly payroll account reconciliations and investigate differences or unexpected results
- Review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in partnership with the HR team on at least a yearly basis or as needed, to recommend and implement process improvements
- Receive and document any necessary approvals prior to processing any non-standard payments
- Coordinate preparation of W-2’s and workers’ compensation audit requests, and support annual financial statement audit as needed
- Oversee resolution of payroll processing exceptions and employee payroll questions
- Support senior management and the business leadership by producing payroll related reporting out of the payroll system
- Participate in routine meetings to ensure the HR management and payroll systems accurately interface with the accounting system
- Process manual checks when needed
- Supervise the payroll specialist and effectively delegate tasks
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in a related field or equivalent work experience
- Five years of experience in payroll processing in a mid-size organization with employees in multiple states (approx. 500-1,000 employees)
- Payroll Certification required (CPP or equivalent)
- General knowledge of benefits and tax regulations
- Thorough knowledge of Federal and State wage laws
- Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration at all levels
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate annual compensation range for this role is $85,000-$100,000, including base salary and any related bonuses or commissions. We have an unlimited vacation policy and also provide commuter benefits for employees in the Denver/Boulder, CO area.
Where you’ll be working
All our roles are remote in the U.S. unless otherwise specified. Our Headquarters is in the Denver/Boulder, CO area. Once we reopen our offices you will have the opportunity to remain fully remote (in the U.S.), work from one of our office locations (CO only currently) or flex your time.
