Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Manager, Local Investment is a senior buying position whose responsibility is to negotiate cost efficient media schedules on behalf of the clients. Supported by the Associate, media buyer, the Manager, Local Investment coordinates all aspects of the buying process in top 30 markets.

Media Buying and Execution:

  • Negotiate cost efficient schedules on behalf of the clients
  • Coordinate all aspects of the buying process
  • Maintain all purchase schedules
  • Work closely with vendors
  • Generate Media Ocean and HudsonMX reports as required
  • Seek creative solutions to enhance buy product
  • Post all media schedules in accordance with client buying guidelines and secure any owed compensatory weight if necessary

 Client & Internal Relationships:

  • Helps Sr. Manager to advise clients on best ways to integrate media into their advertising and marketing programs
  • Grow business opportunities within current clients
  • Work with Sr. Manager to develop and oversee junior staff, manage time, train, assure projects are completed on time and adhere to (within) client budget
  • Keeps up with the latest trends in media
  • Informs client/team of new opportunities or issues
  • Participates, if applicable, in face-to-face client meetings
  • Builds positive relationships with internal and external teams and sets good example for Associate and Sr. Associate levels.

Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

  • Provide guidance to team members nurture/promote team environment
  • Ensure key information is provided to team regarding client/vendor issues, market landscape changes, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.
  • Responsible for constructing and delivering accurate, honest, and timely performance management documents
  • Works with management team (Sr. Manager/AMD/Media Director) to develop strategies for media buys
  • Shares new and relevant advertising opportunities in written and verbal form to the media department
  • Strategizes ways to use media dollars most effectively to the greatest benefit for our clients

Communications Skills:

  • Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications
  • Writes in a clear, compelling, and concise manner
  • Organizes ideas and information logically and sequentially
  • May assist in the development of media presentations and tactical POVs
  • Develop client reports that are clear, compelling, and persuasive
  • Move audience to desired action through clear and persuasive delivery of information
  • Ensure key information is provided to team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years of media buying experience, including at least 1 year at the Buyer/Sr. Associate level
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Media vendor negotiation experience
  • Working knowledge of Media Ocean & Hudson MX
  • Knowledge of media research terminology
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 

Additional Information

The anticipated salary range for this position is $68,000-$106,000. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography.
