Overview

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Investment Manager is a member of the Private Equity team with specific responsibilities serving on deal teams and leading the due diligence on investment opportunities. Oversees investment analysts on various projects. Serves as a relationship manager on certain investments and is active in sourcing and evaluating prospective investment opportunities. Participates in marketing meetings and client meetings. Works with minimal supervision and is responsible to make an established range of decisions, escalating to Manager when necessary and updating Manager on a regular basis.
Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads and/or participates on deal teams for prospective investments.
  • Oversees investment analysts on deal teams and on various projects.
  • Participates in marketing and client meetings.
  • Serves as a secondary relationship manager on certain investments.
  • Sources various investment opportunities.
  • Edits and reviews reporting information on underlying investments.
  • Attends events with limited partners, general partners and portfolio company management.
  • Writes reports, investment memoranda and directs analysis in various investments.
  • Writes communications for quarterly and annual reports.
  • Edits and responds to Requests for Proposals on new business initiatives.
  • Attends meetings with managers of prospective and existing investments.
  • Participates in negotiating terms for investment documents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria:

  • Must have a minimum five to seven years of related business experience (preferably financial analysis corporate development, investment management, consulting or private equity).
  • Must have a minimum two years of relevant private equity experience (investing, consulting, transaction, operating), preferably in a private equity firm.
  • Proven advanced abilities, experience and skills with Excel models.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear, focused and concise manner. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively influencing a group to a recommended course of action.
  • Proven experience coordinating multiple projects/assignments simultaneously and completing assigned tasks, independently, accurately and on a timely basis. Must demonstrate a strong attention to detail with excellent organization skills and process orientation. Expected to cite examples of organization and time management/methods used to manage or prioritize workload demands. Must demonstrate project management experience in planning, executing and maintaining a project from start to finish
  • Must be able to cite examples from work experience on identifying complex problems, quantifying the problem and providing creative resolutions to solve.
  • Proven strong project management skills. Must cite examples of developing, organizing, initiating and maintaining a project and successful accomplishing set goals.


  • Proven strong analytical skills, including demonstrated experience identifying and quantifying problems and providing effective resolutions. Must be able to cite examples of good decision making skills when dealing with multiple alternatives. Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and use new methodologies. Proven experience in working with complex programs that require identifying complex data and analyzing the quality of the output provided.
  • Demonstrated superb presentation skills with experience conveying information in a clear, focused and concise manner. Demonstrated use of strong listening and communication techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.

Work Setting:

  • Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
  • Requires visual acuity to read a variety of correspondence, reports and forms, and to prepare and analyze data.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a prestigious university.
  • MBA preferred.

Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:

  • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Certifications & Licenses (i.e., Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):

  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Maintain appropriate vehicle insurance.

Position Demands:

  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects.
  • Extensive travel.
