We are seeking a Head of Financial Services Compliance to lead the company’s compliance activities for our financial services product offerings. Based in San Francisco, New York, Denver or remote, this individual will lead our financial services compliance team and will partner closely with our financial services business leaders and the legal and compliance organization to ensure compliant financial services product offerings and an effective and scalable compliance program.
The ideal candidate thrives on working cross-functionally and building trust across a number of functions and empowering a team of financial services compliance experts to do their best work. In this role, you will work closely with our Product, Business, and Operations teams to provide compliance guidance and solutions related to consumer protection regulations, payments compliance, and other applicable laws. You will empower a financial services compliance team responsible for financial services product compliance (including consumer, commercial and payments fintech offerings), licensing, policies and procedures and other regulatory compliance matters.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Navigate complex regulatory frameworks to design and mature innovative financial products and services.
- Lead the financial services compliance team and be the financial services compliance point of contact for the business.
- Conduct collateral reviews and ensure compliance with applicable laws, including TILA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM and UDAAP and any bank partner requirements.
- Counsel the product, engineering, operations and design teams on a range of issues.
- Drive holistic compliance management for multiple financial services products, including monitoring, training, policies and procedures, risk assessments, and third-party audits.
- Collaborate with our operations and engineering, product, and design teams to mature our compliance processes, controls, and documentation as needed to align with new or revised laws, rules, or regulations.
- Research and respond to internal stakeholders on complex compliance issues.
- Work with cross-functional partners, including across Legal and Compliance, to ensure controls are designed appropriately to reduce compliance risk.
- Lead the Financial Services Compliance team on all licensing requirements and third party audits and regulatory examinations.
- Assist with issues/escalations raised by the business related to our financial services product offerings.
Here’s what we're looking for:
- 7+ years of combined relevant financial services compliance experience in a law firm, consulting firm and/or an in-house legal, compliance or risk department of a regulated financial institution or financial technology company. JD preferred, but not required.
- Experience building and leading financial services compliance teams, including leading, developing and mentoring team members.
- Experience in building and maturing compliance management systems.
- Experience with remediating identified compliance gaps and audit findings.
- Familiarity with state and federal consumer financial and payments laws and rules, including, but not limited to, TILA, TISA, FDCPA, FCRA, ECOA, Reg E, UDAAP, and NACHA.
- Experience advising on financial products and building scalable processes.
- Experience creatively solving problems, taking into account legal risk and business needs.
- Ownership mindset with experience distilling complex compliance issues and requirements to business partners and leaders.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow through in a fast-paced environment.

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $179,000 - $221,000 in Denver & most remote locations, and $208,000 - $257,000 for San Francisco & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
