  • Purpose of Job
    • Working under the direction of the Nebraska Methodist Health System, Inc. Senior Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis, the Financial Planning and Reporting Analyst is responsible for researching, designing, and assisting in system implementations, and preparing related financial analysis. This position provides a central focus for financial planning, and analysis activities in several areas including budgeting, forecasting, productivity, cost accounting, financial analysis, system operations, and information management.
  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or relevant field required.
    • Experience
      • Minimum of 5 years progressive financial analysis experience in healthcare, or relevant business environments required.
      • Demonstrated track record of successful project execution.
    • License/Certifications
      • N/A
    • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
      • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, productivity, and cost accounting systems, and related financial analysis.
      • Ability to operate in an office environment, and cope with stressful situations.
      • Excellent organization, and problem-solving skills.
      • Ability to be objective, logical, and systems oriented.
      • Ability to remain organized and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
      • Ability to listen, synthesize what is being stated or asked, and form action plans based on discussions.

  • Essential Job Functions
    • Essential Functions I
      • Participates in Dynamic Planning process to include Monthly Operating Review (MOR) meetings, Quarterly Entity Review (QER) meetings and Quarterly Ancillary Review (QAR) meetings.
      • Participates in financial forecasts.
        • In coordination with other members of the finance team, assists with formalizing a 5 year forecast with quarterly updates.
        • Forecast various financial scenarios, including the projected impact of healthcare reform, further governmental changes, and the impact of various system strategic initiatives, profit improvement initiatives, or system to system collaboration efforts.
      • Prepares analyses and provides support for management using Cost Accounting, Management Reporting, Productivity and benchmarking data.
      • Participates in the design, and implementation of a cost accounting system that will enhance the decision support system to reflect a reasonable estimate of cost, and profitability.
      • Prepares financial analysis and performs as requested for service lines, services or procedures, and new business opportunities.
      • Assists in the education of front line, and middle management to understand, control, and optimize the business aspects of their departments.
        • Such education will cover labor management, cost management, revenue management, and contribution margin.
    • Essential Functions II
      • Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.
      • Follows and understands the mission, vision, core values, Employee Standards of Behavior and company policies/procedures.
      • Other duties as assigned.
