Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Associate Manager, Accounting leads a team of Accounting professionals to achieve business objectives and results, and develops skills, knowledge, and abilities of the individuals on the team. This role emphasizes on developing team members and building team efficiencies by utilizing conceptual and technical skills.

The specific focus of this associate manager role is revenue reporting and as a technical expert, this leader ensures revenue reporting needs are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effectively lead projects around accounting initiatives which may include effectively collaborating with various stake-holders cross-functionally.
  • Evaluate, develop, implement and monitor accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable government regulations (SOX, GAAP, IFRS), with an emphasis on improving accuracy and timeliness and reducing risk.
  • Ownership and continuous evaluation of SOX controls while recommending changes to processes and procedures. Work closely with Internal Audit to identify and implement necessary control changes.
  • Play a key part of the annual audit and quarterly reviews with external auditors, the accounting team, and management.
  • Review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for month-end close.
  • Conduct first level reviews of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Assist in financial statement preparation through proper transactional coding and account classifications, and by maintaining the trial balance.
  • Ensure the team has a comprehensive understanding of the financial systems to perform their job responsibilities. Provide direction to other users in interpreting information, monitoring accuracy, and suggesting changes/improvements to the systems.
  • Identify and communicate key responsibilities, priorities and practices to foster teamwork, a positive work environment and confidence in team to achieve business results.
  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
  • Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
  • Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.
  • Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of Accounting experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • 1+ years of experience leading or directing people and/or project teams.
  • Basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree.
  • Life Sciences industry knowledge.
  • Experience with complex accounting transactions.
  • Experience with SAP.
