Associate Actuary
Responsibilities
Specialty Benefits is looking for an Associate Actuary to join the pricing team! Exciting plans for growth in the SBD business unit will provide great opportunities to support the pricing of multiple group products. Join us!
As an Associate Actuary on the SBD Group Benefits Pricing team, you will:
- Direct and provide analytical leadership for areas of responsibility including product design, pricing and consulting with internal business partners. Promote the effective use of the actuarial techniques, tools, and methodologies in decision making. Lead or participate on business unit or cross company project teams.
- Work with collaborative teams to create and maintain Group Insurance products that support our customers in the small to medium size business markets.
- Develop pricing for new Group customers to ensure profitable growth.
- Participate in the creation of state rate filings and ensure accurate and timely implementation of new sale rates.
- Embrace new technology around the use of data within pricing studies and analysis.
- Support and collaborate with teams from Product Management, Underwriting, IT, Operational areas, Distribution, etc.
- Perform other job-related or special projects as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Actuarial Science or related degree.
- A Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or global equivalent.
- 6+ years actuarial experience.
- Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, the Actuarial Standards of Practice promulgated by the Actuarial Standards Board, and the Code of Professional Conduct of the AAA and the SoA is required.
- Basic knowledge of the business field supported.
- Must maintain continuing education requirements as specified by either SOA or AAA.
Strong communication skills and knowledge of spreadsheet and database or similar PC software packages, SAS, R, or ability to learn, are preferred
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range
$116000 - $162000 / year
Additional Information
Location
This role offers the ability for in-office, hybrid (blending both office and remote work in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements. You'll work with your leader to determine which option may align best based on several factors.
