Job Posting

American National is seeking an Associate Actuary I for our Life Product Development team in our Galveston, TX location. This role is also available remotely. This role is responsible for research, development, modeling, and pricing of new individual life insurance products. The team currently supports Universal Life (including indexed, secondary guarantee, and cash accumulation), Term, Whole Life, and Participating Whole Life new business product lines.

Responsibilities:

  • Pricing, modeling, and rate development for new life insurance products.
  • Train and mentor less experienced actuarial analysts.
  • Profitability and performance reporting to key internal stakeholders.
  • Research and recommend actuarial assumption updates.
  • Collaborate with marketing and competitive intelligence units on design recommendations.
  • Support product filing team with contract review and actuarial memorandums.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on assigned products.
  • Provide guidance to implementation teams in support of new products.
  • Maintain current knowledge of actuarial regulations affecting product design.
  • Assist in monitoring and updating profitability metrics for our new business portfolio.
  • Support non guaranteed element review and illustration actuary testing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA)
  • At least 5 years of actuarial experience
  • Experience with actuarial modeling software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Life product pricing background
  • Experience with GGY AXIS actuarial software
  • IUL or No Lapse Guarantee UL experience
