Job Description

Verisk 3E is growing the accounting department and looking for an Accounting Manager to join the team. As the Accounting Manager, you will oversee a small team and play an important role in the in the day to day accounting tasks for a growing global company.

We prefer for this position to be within a commutable distance to our Carlsbad, CA office with a hybrid and remote schedule. We will also consider candidates that are remote in the Pacific or Mountain time zones. If remote, monthly travel to the Carlsbad office would be expected.

• Manage all tasks within accounting related to journal entries, bookkeeping, reports and analysis for multiple business units including foreign entities
• Understand technical accounting for revenue recognition and principles to review and analyze the appropriateness and reasonableness of revenue for company 
• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and maintain related controls
• Oversee timely month-end closing cycle
• Manage staff accountants (Develop and track goals for self and staff)
• Reconcile month end reports to the general ledger & perform variance analysis and reporting
• Support internal and external audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibilities
• Participate in budget process
• Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned
• Work collaboratively within team and across teams to meet timelines

Qualifications

• Understanding of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations (GAAP)
• Proficient with MS Office applications
• Corporate accounting and ERP knowledge and experience strongly preferred
• BA in Accounting or Finance
• CPA or CPA candidate required, MBA and/or CMA preferred
• Minimum 5 years in accounting management
