What We Are Looking For

The Accounting Manager will be an experienced and passionate professional with in-depth experience related to Payroll. This position will work closely with the VP Accounting and Human Resources personnel to manage the processing and reconciling of US payroll. The Accounting Manager is required to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, apply, and execute strict SOXs controls, the timely processing of garnishments, severance, W2 statements and the preparation of key reports and reconciliations.

What You Will Do

  • Maintains payroll information by effectively utilizing system, coordinating the collection, calculation, and entering of data.
  • Update payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers.
  • Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
  • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
  • Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Work on special payroll related special projects as needed.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in payroll processing & accounting and payroll related matters; HR, Federal, State and Legal.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP payroll systems such as Oracle Fusion and Oracle time tracking systems.
  • Strong working knowledge and ability to work with 3 rd party payroll providers such as ADP.

What You Will Need

Education

  • Associate /Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in relevant payroll and accounting software
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of payroll calculation and processing
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal rules and laws
  • Solid financial acumen
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong customer focus
