Accounting Manager

Remote position but strong preference to be local to San Diego, CA- OR - Nashville, TN

On our team, you will be a part of research studies with leading academic institutions. You will receive training from our mindfulness, nutrition and behavioral health counselors. Work closely with our orthopedic surgeon team to deepen your knowledge of musculoskeletal treatment.

SpineZone is looking for an Accounting Manager to help evolve our internal accounting function. You will help the organization develop best practices, improve internal accounting processes, and lead various accounting projects. You will partner with key stakeholders across the business as well as our external accounting partners. We are looking for a general accounting expert with experience in multisite, consolidated financial reporting to support the company in its exciting expansion plans!

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting and A/P. 
  • Acts as the hiring manager for accounting staff and conducts performance evaluations.


Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the company’s general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, cash receipts, and asset management
  • Complete the month end close process duties including recording recurring and one-off journal entries, accrual entries, and trial balance review
  • Monitor and analyze financial accounting data and ensure compliance with GAAP
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and financial reports
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements and integrity of accounting processes
  • Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements
  • Design and implement process improvement projects for the accounting department
  • Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
  • Manage the A/P Specialist and any future accounting personnel hires
  • Lead the annual financial audit activities as well as government audits and reporting submissions as needed
  • Serve as primary liaison with the company’s financial auditor and tax teams
  • Make recommendations to business stakeholders
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested


 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Sound knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, standards and regulations
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with Quickbooks or similar programs 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team
  • Detail-oriented and strong time management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance. CPA or Masters in Accountancy preferred
  • Years of experience: 6+ years of work experience in Accounting with increasing responsibilities. Two or more years of experience as a Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager preferred. Two or more years of public accounting experience is preferred. 
  • Experience leading a system implementation project preferred
  • Experience with G-Suite preferred 
  • Healthcare and/or multisite facility background highly preferred


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
