Job DescriptionRole Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Cost Manager to support the financial and commercial administration of capital projects within a large-scale corporate environment. This role will work closely with project teams, contractors, finance stakeholders, and project controls functions to ensure accurate cost tracking, project setup, contractor payment validation, and asset capitalization processes.
This position is ideal for candidates with a Finance, Accounting, Business, or related background who are interested in supporting construction and capital project delivery from a financial governance and cost control perspective.
Cost Reporting & Financial Tracking
- Support the preparation and maintenance of project cost reports and financial trackers.
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets and commitments.
- Assist in updating project cost dashboards, forecasts, and reporting records.
- Ensure cost information is accurately maintained within internal systems.
Project Setup & Close-Out
- Coordinate the creation of new projects within internal financial and project management systems.
- Support project close-out activities, ensuring all commercial and financial requirements are completed.
- Maintain accurate project records throughout the project lifecycle.
Purchase Order (PO) Administration
- Assist with the creation, monitoring, and closure of purchase orders.
- Ensure purchase orders are processed in accordance with company policies and approval processes.
- Track outstanding commitments and support reconciliation activities.
Contractor Claim Validation
- Review and validate General Contractor (GC) claim submissions against approved documentation.
- Ensure claims are supported by relevant purchase orders, contracts, approvals, and project records.
- Liaise with project teams and finance stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and support timely processing.
Asset Settlement & Capitalization
- Support asset settlement and project capitalization activities upon project completion.
- Assist in the preparation and verification of asset records for financial reporting purposes.
- Coordinate with Finance and Fixed Assets teams to ensure compliance with corporate accounting requirements.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with Project Managers, Project Controls, Finance, Procurement, Accounts Payable, and external contractors.
- Support communication and coordination between project delivery and finance teams.
- Assist in responding to financial audits, compliance checks, and information requests.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain accurate supporting documentation for project transactions and approvals.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to project financial management and reporting.
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
- 1–5 years of experience in finance, project accounting, cost control, commercial administration, or project support functions.
- Experience supporting capital projects, construction projects, manufacturing facilities, or corporate real estate projects is advantageous.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or equivalent financial systems is preferred.
