Job Description

The Red Gate Group is seeking a Financial Analyst to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) at Fort Belvoir, VA. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) Finance Manager for DTRA’s Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) Directorate, an organization dedicated to preventing the spread of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and eliminating global chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats.

You will play a vital role in both strategic financial management and day-to-day operations, managing active budgets, developing long-term financial recommendations, and producing high-visibility reports, including the Annual Report to Congress. This position is ideal for a finance professional passionate about making a global impact while working in a mission-critical defense environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Planning:

  • Manage and strategically plan for three active fiscal years of funding.
  • Develop Program Objective Memorandums (POMs) and annual Spend Plans to support long-term financial objectives.
  • Identify financial risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

  • Extract, validate, and analyze financial data using ADVANA and other financial tools.
  • Track and manage Operations & Maintenance (O&M) obligations and de-obligations.
  • Create comprehensive financial reports, including weekly Financial Operations Reports and year-end investment analyses.
  • Provide custom financial data pulls to support contract obligations and Unliquidated Obligations (ULOs).

Operational Support & Communication:

  • Maintain the CTR FM SharePoint site and ensure up-to-date budget documentation.
  • Conduct bi-monthly and recurring finance briefings for senior leadership.
  • Validate financial data for the Web Application Tool (WAT) and ensure alignment with the Defense Agencies Initiative (DAI).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial operations and data accuracy.

High-Visibility Contributions:

  • Support the creation of high-profile reports like the Annual Report to Congress and Bi-Monthly Business Meeting presentations.
  • Liaise with computer engineering teams to translate financial needs into actionable tasks.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of finance and budget
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct briefings for senior leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to write for senior leaders
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
  • DTRA CTR or Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) or Counter WMD experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
