About VFX

VFX Financial is one of the UK’s fastest-growing FinTechs, helping complex organisations move, manage, and protect money across borders. Built for specialist sectors, multi-jurisdiction structures, and high-compliance environments, we support businesses whose needs go beyond standard banking. We’re selective about who we work with because exceptional service requires focus and commitment.

With six international offices, five regulatory licences, and an 83% CAGR over the past three years, we’re scaling rapidly and earning industry recognition along the way — including the Financial Times FT1000: Europe’s Fastest Growing Companies 2026, CNBC UK’s Top Fintech Companies 2025, Wealth & Finance FinTech Awards 2026, and the Business Growth Award from Business Awards UK.

Behind it all is a team of ambitious VFXers united by collective ownership, a focus on growth, and a shared passion for solving complex problems.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Financial Accountant to strengthen the day-to-day running of the Finance function and provide a layer of ownership between the Financial Controller and the transactional finance activities currently supported by the Finance Assistant.

The role will take responsibility for a broad range of recurring finance processes, helping to ensure that day-to-day finance activity is completed accurately, on time and with appropriate controls. It will also provide additional capacity for the Financial Controller to focus on reporting, governance, technical accounting, audit, tax and higher-value finance projects.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working across the detail while also improving how the function operates. The responsibilities can flex as the Finance team develops and as systems and automation reduce manual workload.

Key ResponsibilitiesDay-to-Day Finance Operations
  • Own and coordinate recurring AR and AP activity, ensuring invoices, payments, collections and allocations are completed accurately and on time.

  • Manage the Finance inbox and coordinate responses to internal and external finance queries.

  • Oversee routine finance communications, payment workflows and introducing-broker (IB) processes.

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and prioritisation for the Finance Assistant and ensure key activities are covered during absences.

  • Maintain clear ownership, deadlines and escalation routes for routine Finance processes.

Month-End & Management Accounts Support
  • Coordinate the month-end timetable and ensure journals, reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and supporting schedules are completed.

  • Prepare and review selected balance-sheet reconciliations and investigate unusual or aged items.

  • Support production of monthly management accounts and variance commentary.

  • Assist with actual-versus-budget reporting and recurring management information.

  • Support the Financial Controller with analysis, schedules and ad hoc reporting as required.

Banking, Reconciliations & Cash Support
  • Oversee routine bank reconciliations and ensure exceptions are investigated and resolved.

  • Support monitoring of bank balances, payment requirements and short-term cash movements.

  • Assist with intercompany recharges and reconciliations.

  • Support the Treasury & Regulatory Finance Manager with underlying data and reconciliations where responsibilities overlap.

Payroll, Expenses & Supplier Management
  • Coordinate monthly payroll inputs and support payroll submissions through the relevant payroll provider.

  • Review and reconcile employee expenses and ensure compliance with policy.

  • Maintain supplier records and support supplier onboarding and invoice/payment queries.

  • Maintain relevant fixed-asset records and support depreciation processing.

Commission Calculations
  • Calculate and prepare monthly commission calculations accurately and on time, including reviewing inputs, investigating variances and supporting the approval and payment process.

Controls, Audit & Process Improvement
  • Maintain process documentation, checklists and a clear audit trail for core Finance activities.

  • Prepare schedules and supporting evidence for external audit and other assurance activity.

  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline recurring processes.

  • Work with the Financial Controller and wider business to improve finance systems, reporting and controls.

  • Support implementation of new processes and ensure they are documented and embedded.

Candidate ProfileExperience & Background
  • Fully qualified accountant, such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 3 to 5 years’ relevant finance experience, including at least 1 year post-qualification.

  • Previous experience in a broad finance role within financial services, an SME, or a multi-entity environment would be desirable.

  • Strong understanding of AP, AR, reconciliations, month-end close, and management accounts.

  • Experience working with payroll, expenses, financial reporting, and recurring finance processes would be advantageous.

  • Comfortable working with senior Finance stakeholders and supporting the wider business on day-to-day finance matters.

Technical Skills
  • Good Excel skills, including lookups, SUMIFS, pivot tables, and basic financial analysis.

  • Experience using Xero or similar accounting software.

  • Familiarity with PayFit or another payroll system would be advantageous.

  • Experience using PayHawk, MayDay, or other expense management tools would be beneficial.

  • Comfortable working with finance systems, operational data, and reporting tools.

  • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualisation tools would be advantageous.

  • Interested in using technology, automation, and process improvement to reduce manual workload and improve accuracy.

Core Competencies
  • Attention to Detail: Maintains accuracy across reconciliations, reporting, payroll, expenses, and month-end activity.

  • Organisation: Manages recurring deadlines and competing priorities in a structured and reliable way.

  • Ownership: Takes responsibility for assigned workstreams and follows through without waiting for instruction.

  • Problem-Solving: Identifies discrepancies, investigates root causes, and helps resolve issues practically.

  • Communication: Works effectively with senior Finance stakeholders and the wider business, providing clear and timely updates.

  • Process Improvement: Looks for ways to simplify manual processes, improve controls, and make better use of systems.

  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a growing business where processes may need to evolve as the Finance function scales.
