You'll combine deep EV propulsion knowledge with strong people leadership to influence how GM invests, designs, sources, and scales technologies that matter.
What You'll Do
Lead a high-impact team
  • Manage a team focused on EV propulsion cost and value (cells, packs, e-motors, inverters, power electronics, and related systems).
  • Set clear expectations, priorities, and guardrails so the team can operate with independence and accountability.
  • Develop talent through stretch assignments, exposure to senior leadership, actionable feedback, and thoughtful career discussions.
  • Build an inclusive, high-performance culture that reflects GM Behaviors and supports a Workplace of Choice.

Own EV propulsion cost strategy
  • Serve as the primary leadership contact for complex, cross-program, or sensitive technical and commercial issues in EV propulsion cost.
  • Own a distinct business area within PPCO (e.g., EV propulsion cost portfolio), acting as the go-to expert on cost drivers, design trade-offs, and supplier economics.
  • Translate enterprise and PPCO strategies into clear direction, roadmaps, and KPIs for your team.
  • Continuously reprioritize work and resources as program timing, sourcing decisions, and technology landscapes evolve.

Drive technical and analytical excellence
  • Apply advanced knowledge of EV propulsion technologies and manufacturing economics to guide business cases, sourcing strategies, and investment decisions.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and regional differences that affect cost, assumptions, and risk.
  • Use robust analytics to organize, interpret, and challenge large cost and technical data sets.
  • Champion AI and advanced analytics to improve efficiency, estimate quality, and scenario analysis.

Shape cross-functional decisions
  • Partner closely with GPSC, Finance, GPD, EV Propulsion R&D, and other stakeholders to align on cost, value, and risk.
  • Provide clear, data-driven perspectives that connect engineering decisions, supplier capabilities, and financial outcomes.
  • Resolve competing priorities (cost, performance, timing) across internal stakeholders, ensuring decisions support enterprise value.
  • Support GM SMTs and cross-functional teams from both tooling and piece-price perspectives.

Influence at scale
  • Lead strategy and implementation for large, visible initiatives (e.g., propulsion cost standards, tools and methodology deployment, major sourcing events, portfolio changes).
  • Be accountable for workforce planning, operational execution, and key financial outcomes (e.g., APV, savings, forecast quality) in your area.
  • Set and deliver metrics and KPIs that materially impact PPCO, program, and enterprise results.
  • Champion change management, modeling GM Behaviors while helping the team adopt new processes, tools, and ways of working.

Communicate with executive presence
  • Communicate complex topics in a simple, compelling way tailored to senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Use data, storytelling, and negotiation to build alignment where perspectives or legacy practices differ.
  • Bring the maturity and judgment needed to drive constructive, fact-based cost and value discussions, even in ambiguous or high-stakes situations.

Travel
  • Be available for occasional domestic and international travel to supplier facilities and GM locations to deepen collaboration, validate assumptions, and unlock joint cost-reduction opportunities.
