As Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our Indian finance department, focusing on payroll and project accounting. Your expertise will be vital in supporting our growth and success in the region.
What you’ll deliver

Smooth and Accurate Finance Operations: You will ensure seamless execution of payroll and project accounting processes, adhering to strict timelines and maintaining accuracy in all financial records.

How we’ll measure it

Project Accounting: Timely and accurate accounting for projects, including revenue recognition, cost projections, timecard reporting, and project forecasting.

Accounts Receivable: Prompt and accurate invoicing of clients, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts.

Accounts Payable: Efficient and accurate processing of supplier payments, employee claims, and other financial obligations.

Reporting: Consistent and reliable delivery of month-end closing reports and other crucial financial data.

Continuous Improvement: Ongoing focus on enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of finance operations, processes, deliverables, internal controls, and team management.
What you’re responsible for
Payroll Processing (outsourced):
-
Provide timely and accurate information to the payroll outsourcing team for monthly payroll processing.
-
Review the final payroll report, ensuring its accuracy and completeness before uploading payments.
-
Prepare payroll journals and maintain detailed and accurate records.
-
Support all ad hoc payroll-related activities, including annual audits.
Project Accounting:

Analyze project Gross Profit (GP) movements, ensuring accurate and timely project cost projections.
-
Support project closure, ensuring all necessary project completion certificates and accounts statements are in place.
-
Ensure all contract and variation documentation is complete and readily available.
-
Maintain a robust tracking system, partnering with the project team to ensure compliance and document collection throughout the project lifecycle.

Oversee and ensure timely submission of all invoices, requisitions, insurance certificates, lien waivers, and other contractually required documents to the Project Manager for approval and processing.
-
Guarantee timely entry of all job costs and accurate billing with complete supporting documentation from clients and/or subcontractors.
-
Analyze unusual project variances, investigating and addressing discrepancies as needed.
-
Build and enhance Unispace's project administration capabilities, ensuring all project documents, Accounts Payable (AP) processes, and controls are managed efficiently and accurately.

Provide support to the delivery team as required.
Accounts Receivable:
-
Assist in raising invoices according to established processes.
-
Record sales/service invoices in the accounting system, including applicable taxes and duties.
-
Record revenue based on profit center/project-wise, aligning with the company's business model.
-
Record collections from debtors and track Foreign Inward Remittance Certificates (FIRCs)/e-BRCs/bank advices for all foreign receipts.

Prepare annual receivable confirmations and provide them to clients for submission to their debtors.
General Ledger and Accounting (as required):

Record financial transactions in Vista (accounting software).
-
Record prepayments, accruals, and depreciation.
-
Prepare and record other accounting entries.
-
Perform monthly closing processes with year-end roll-overs.
-
File and retain electronic accounting records.
-
Prepare monthly balance sheet schedules.
Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reporting (as required):
Monthly:
-
Prepare and submit monthly Trial Balance with a management report, adhering to the company's template.
-
Assist in remitting statutory dues for Goods and Services Tax (GST), withholding tax (WHT), and advance tax within deadlines, and file WHT returns on a quarterly basis.

Coordinate with the service provider for filing monthly/annual GST returns.
-
Prepare External Commercial Borrowings (ECB) returns monthly.
Quarterly:

Prepare and file quarterly withholding tax returns within deadlines.
-
Issue withholding tax certificates to vendors (Form 16A).
Annual:
-
Prepare annual statutory financial statements for India reporting as per the Companies Act, 2013, including supporting schedules and notes.

Coordinate with company auditors for annual statutory audits and other certifications.
Qualifications

University graduate with a major in Accounting.

Fully qualified accountant (e.g., CA, ACCA).
Work experience:

Over 7 years of work experience, with at least 2 years in a similar role.

Project accounting experience.

Payroll experience.
