About the role;

Based in Sri Lanka, the Finance Manager will cover all aspects of financial accounting and reporting for these countries including month end close, treasury, tax, audit, statutory reporting, P2P and R2R liaison with the shared service center.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting: In this role you will assume overall responsibility of month end close covering all Finance pillars (P2P, R2R, O2C etc.) in liaison with shared service center. You should be well versed in IFRS reporting standards and keep up to speed with any new developments.

Tax, Legal & Statutory (TLS) you will work together with global and local tax support partners to comply with local tax compliances and tax audits. As Sri Lanka Financial controller, understanding of local tax requirements is a MUST, including filing on time and to be able to answer any queries raised by local tax authorities.

You will review and sign off on Corporation Tax payments for Sri Lanka and advise on the accounting implications of draft contracts, other arrangements, and one-off transactions and support local finance teams and leaders with the implementation and practical execution of the global accounting policy.

You have demonstrated capability to take responsibility for the end-to-end execution of Treasury related operations (FX, Factoring, IC Loans Reconciliations, Derivatives, Debt etc.) and run working capital initiatives to ensure optimal cash management with close Liaison with corporate banks and IRD to make global remittances on time.

You will ensure adequate funding of the entities within the countries and oversee cash forecasting process and steering delivery of cash conversion and working capital while drive visibility and understanding of cash drivers and required actions across business. You will explore investment opportunities / Cash optimization.

In addition, you will deliver on:

P2P

  • Laise with shared service team to make sure required controls are maintained.
  • Make sure the country complies with Upfield P2P global governance requirements.
  • Review and approve payment cycles.

Controls

  • Develop, implement and monitor strong internal control environment across all business processes.
  • Active risk management with a focus on driving key actions in partnership with country leadership team.
  • Maintenance of financial controls – ensuring adherence to Upfield’s accounting policy/ Upfield’s group policy and raising awareness of risk management and financial controls compliance.
  • Proper accounting of Capital Investments (CAPEX).
  • Manage the Insurance portfolio of the company. Laise with Insurance partners to access risks / exposures and renew policies on time.

Talent Management & Development

  • Recruit, retain and develop talent.
  • Contribute to global Upfield Finance function agenda, with a focus on improving capabilities that can be leveraged locally

So, what does it take to be successful in this role?

We are looking for a Finance Manager with 3-5 years of experience in Finance. Prior experience in FMCG will be an added advantage. You should be confident with Excel, Power Point and experience with SAP is mandatory.

  • An ideal candidate must have a professional qualification in Accountancy / Degree in accountancy from a recognized University together with training experience in a Big 4.
  • In depth knowledge and skills in following finance areas: Net Revenue management, Budgeting and Costing, Reporting.
  • Proven ability to work in a matrix organization and cross functional networks with multiple stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurship mindset in goal orientation.
  • High flexibility and ability to adapt fast in dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and ability to build relations and coordinate across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strategic approach, and strong analytical skills to assess risk and be financially savvy.
