Who we want

The Finance Grant Manager is an independent and detailed-oriented finance manager who ensures 100% grant financial compliance for United Way and funded subcontractors on federal, state, city, and private grants. The Finance Grant Manager is a member of the Finance and Planning Department and is one of the principal staff members responsible for financial systems, budgeting, and financial reporting for government and private grants. You will develop effective systems for submitting and monitoring funding and reimbursement requests to grantors and subcontractors and liaise with the grant program managers on issues related to the grant. You will ensure that the financials, invoices, and reporting to internal and external stakeholders for grants are effective, efficient, and accurate. The Finance Grants Manager reports to the Controller and the Chief Financial officer. You will also delegate to and oversee the work of any staff accountants assigned to work on grants.

  • Technologically Savvy: You are proficient in using computer software, including Microsoft Office, accounting software, and other tools

What you’ll bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in Accounting, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Minimum of two years experience with fiscal monitoring of grant contracts, preferably with state or federal grants or contracts
  • Knowledge of GAAP and Governmental Accounting Standards
  • Knowledge of Texas state and federal grant regulations, including Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards
  • An ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, problem solve and bring a high level of initiative and self-direction to work.
  • An ability to maintain regular and effective communication with colleagues and funders
  • Demonstrated experience with budget preparation, analysis, and financial reporting
  • Willingness to function as an internal “service provider” to other staff

This position is located in Austin, Texas, and reports directly to the Controller and Chief Financial Officer.

Skills Required
