JOB TITLE: FINANCE BUSINESS PARTNER

REPORTS TO: MANAGER, BUSINESS PERFORMANCE AND ANALYTICS
Job purpose:
The job holder will provide strong support in business performance and analytics for the Retail Banking Segment. The holder primarily prepares financial performance reports for the business, identifies, and articulates key business performance drivers on an on-going basis, triggering the business on any deviations for timely resolutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides objective and analytical commentary into Retail Banking, Products, and Channels performance, highlighting areas of risk and opportunities for the business.
- Prepares Financial performance reports/Packs for segments and Pan bank monthly.
- Ensures alignment of segment and sub-segment performance and initiatives with the overall country objectives.
- Prepare performance reports for relationship managers, branches and sales teams at regular intervals.
- Holds business performance meetings to agree on an action plan for closing gaps and tracks the status of action plans through implementation.
- Provides Retail banking business, Products, and Channels support in understanding and analyzing key drivers of the various cost lines, vis a vis budgets. Track implementation of agreed action plans and follow through to closure.
- Develops and tracks business scorecards and recommends remedial actions regularly.
- Provides reports on actual performance and forecasts on daily, weekly, and monthly intervals to the Retail Banking business on income statement and balance sheet. Highlight risks to the business/Finance on an on-going basis.
- Collects and analyses market data and competitive trends likely to affect the business budget, making recommendations to enhance product profitability.
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Strongly support the annual budgeting and forecasting cycles while aligning these plans with broader business objectives
- Co-ordinates development of a suitable and simple MIS for accurate and timely collation and dissemination of information to facilitate effective management of business performance along product and sub-segment lines.
- Provides support to the retail business and products team by actively participating in key strategic projects to build revenues, providing financial perspective to systems and product design for new products and other initiatives/contracts.
- Maintains accurate profit models for all Retail banking products, channels, and customer sub-segments.
- Support in preparation of business cases and post project assessment for projects in the Retail banking, products and channels segment.
- Controls: implements appropriate controls within the unit such that both internal policies and regulatory requirements are adequately followed.
- Risk identification and assessment.
- Effectively manages operational risk within the business finance unit including ensuring proper functioning of the embedded and periodic controls.
- Identifies and escalates risk issues within business finance in a timely manner.
- conducts periodic self-assessment and assesses other individuals.
- Extracts and reconciles journal entries (for Balance Sheet & Income Statement GLs) for External Audit
- Monthly GL reconciliations
- Train sales teams, relationship manager and branch managers on optimal balance sheet management for revenue growth
- Scopes revenue growth opportunities and generate business leads through.
- Assesses and controls loopholes for revenue leakage, analyses, computes potential revenue leakage and follows up for recoupment.
Educational Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree preferably in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Business Computing, or a related field from a recognized university.
- Professional accountancy qualification -CPA/ACCA or CIMA (UK) Level II.
Work experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in banking operations and specifically Finance business partnership.
- Finance / audit functional experience is an added advantage.
Generic Competencies
- Ability to interact with large data interfaces and perform complex calculations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of data analytics tools such as Power BI, Vision BI, Data Mart among others, SQL coding and script development, VBA Macro coding.
