Serefin is seeking a motivated and analytical Finance Business Analyst to join its Finance team. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, this position is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and business analysis to support strategic decision-making across multiple business entities.
The successful candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with analytical thinking and business acumen. Working closely with operational leaders and cross-functional teams, the Finance Business Analyst will provide meaningful financial insights, identify opportunities for improvement, and support operational and strategic initiatives within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple Serefin entities, including consolidated financial reporting.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations, accruals, and general ledger analysis to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, including detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year results.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations to management.
- Prepare and maintain annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-range planning activities.
- Develop ad hoc financial analysis and reports to support business initiatives and strategic decision-making.
Business Partnership
- Collaborate with operational leaders to understand business drivers and provide financial insights that support informed decision-making.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes, reporting, and internal controls.
- Assist in evaluating business performance through KPIs and financial metrics.
Accounting & Compliance
- Prepare corporate income tax returns and supporting schedules for multiple legal entities.
- Support interim and annual external audits by preparing working papers and responding to auditor requests.
- Develop and maintain documentation of accounting procedures, internal controls, and process improvements to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and enhance financial reporting and analysis processes.
- Participate in finance transformation and system improvement initiatives.
- Support additional finance projects and responsibilities as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- Accounting designation (CMA, CGA or CA), or an equivalent combination of related experience and education
- Minimum of 5 years financial analysis and accounting experience
- Multiple lines of business complex ownership structure
- Demonstrated experience preparing and filing Canadian corporate income tax returns, including T2 returns, SRED, supporting schedules, tax reconciliations, and related compliance filings.
- Working knowledge of accounting systems NetSuite, Expensify and Payworks is an asset
- Previous M&A and international expansion experience an asset
- Self motivated and self-directed individual who enjoys working on a team
- Advanced Excel Skills; experience building complex templates and formulas
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Impeccable analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to work closely with senior management team

Skills Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- Accounting designation (CMA, CGA or CA) or equivalent experience and education
