We are seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to join the finance team at Alitheia, where you will play a vital role in upholding the integrity of our core accounting functions. This position offers an ideal opportunity for a professional early in their career to gain hands-on experience in fund accounting while contributing to the accurate maintenance of financial records. The successful candidate will assist with critical processes such as reconciliations, month-end closing, and the preparation of financial statements in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This role is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to the financial operations of our fund entities and support the broader strategic goals of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Execute precise bookkeeping and transaction processing by recording and maintaining daily accounting entries across all Alitheia entities, ensuring proper classification and documentation.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable workflows, including the processing of vendor invoices, employee expense claims, and disbursements to portfolio companies.
- Oversee the general ledger and associated schedules, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and fully supported by relevant documentation.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, intercompany transactions, and balance sheet items, actively resolving any discrepancies or reconciling items.
- Facilitate the month-end and year-end closing cycles by preparing necessary accruals, prepayments, and journal entries to ensure timely financial reporting.
- Monitor multi-currency exposures across fund entities and identify significant variances for management review.
- Contribute to the preparation of management accounts, fund-level financial statements, and accompanying notes in accordance with IFRS.
- Support the drafting of statutory financial statements and Statements of Affairs to ensure compliance with CAMA 2020 regulations.
- Assemble comprehensive schedules and backup documentation for board packs, Limited Partner (LP) reports, and internal management reviews.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready files for all transactions and journal entries to ensure readiness for external review.
- Collaborate with the finance team during statutory and fund audits by preparing requested schedules and addressing auditor inquiries efficiently.
- Uphold internal controls, approval workflows, and regulatory filing deadlines to ensure operational compliance.
- Assist with invoicing and fee calculations across fund entities, including the preparation of related correspondence.
- Support cash flow monitoring and short-term forecasting activities for fund entities.
- Provide ad hoc administrative and analytical assistance to the Finance Manager and the wider operations team as needed.
