Finance Assistant Maternity Cover
Salary: £22,600 - £24,000 dependent on experience
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Finance Assistant to join our friendly and productive Finance team based in York. This role is a 10-month fixed term contract for maternity cover.
The Role
You will be instrumental in providing effective account processing service while supporting internal and external customers. Some of the main tasks within the role include processing purchase orders, invoices, and expenses; preparing weekly purchase ledger BACS run; processing payments to suppliers; and maintaining spreadsheet analyses. With your skills and experience, you will be able to hit the ground running!

The successful candidate will have:
- GCSE English and Mathematics Grade A – C, or equivalent
- Experience in computerised accounts processing within a business or educational environment
- Excellent IT skills with experience using MS Office and databases
- Exceptional numeracy skills and attention to detail
- The ability to multitask and cope with conflicting demands, while working to deadlines
- Confidence to work on your own initiative and as part of a team

The National STEM Learning Centre & Network is a key UK resource for supporting STEM teaching and learning through provision of resources, on-line and physical networking and communities and partnership with a wide range of organisations and individuals. This includes driving forward on-going development of the STEM Ambassadors and STEM Clubs programmes alongside subject-specific support for all involved in teaching STEM subjects to young people.
