Summary Generated by Built In
We're looking for a Finance Apprentice to join our growing finance team as their first step into a finance career, working toward an AAT qualification while getting hands-on experience across the transactional side of finance.
Your main focus will be accurately posting supplier bills and invoices onto NetSuite, while also getting involved across the wider finance team to support with AP/AR, month-end and general finance tasks as they come up.
Success in this role looks like accurate, reliable bill posting that the wider team can depend on, and steady progress through your AAT studies in your first year.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurately post supplier bills and invoices onto NetSuite in a timely manner, ready for payment runs.
- Ensure invoices are coded correctly, flagging any queries or discrepancies to the right person promptly.
- Support the wider AP/AR process, data entry and basic reconciliation tasks.
- Respond to routine supplier and internal queries relating to invoice status.
- Assist with month-end tasks as directed, building exposure to the wider finance function over time.
- Carry out regular NetSuite checks, escalating any discrepancies to the Systems Accountant
- Work toward and complete your AAT qualification, attending day release/study sessions as scheduled.
- Build strong working relationships across the finance team, escalating issues rather than working around them.
- Take on ad hoc administrative and finance tasks as the team's needs evolve.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- A genuine interest in starting a career in finance or accounting — no prior finance experience required.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade 4/C or above.
- Strong attention to detail and comfortable working with numbers and data.
- Good basic IT skills, including confidence with Excel/spreadsheets.
- Clear communication skills and a proactive, willing attitude to learning.
- Well organised, able to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines.
- Committed to completing a professional qualification (AAT) alongside the role.
