About the Position
The Finance department at Jane Street includes several teams focusing on the firm's financing initiatives including Treasury, Portfolio Finance, Bank and Broker Management, Investor Relations, among others. We’re looking for a candidate who would effectively focus on Investor Relations as well as engage in other projects across Finance as needed.
This is a great opportunity for intellectually curious people who are interested in working at the intersection of markets and business strategy. The role will be an entrepreneurial one, with a broad remit and many touch points across the firm.
Jane Street has over $6 billion in external debt in the form of multiple tranches of bonds and a term loan held by institutional investors. The candidate will work closely with senior management to shape the firm’s external messaging for debt investors, rating agencies and other key counterparts. In this role, you will regularly engage with a wide range of internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to create the materials and analytics on market and business related issues.
- Gain an understanding of Jane Street’s business, strategy and risk management and analyze our financials and risk measures in order to properly articulate the business to stakeholders
- Set up a long-term plan to improve our standing with rating agencies, which is a key initiative of the firm
- Engage with debt investors including current and prospective firms to further develop interest in Jane Street from an investment perspective
- Evaluate and form a view on Jane Street and global competitors, examining both quantitative and qualitative factors
- Work closely with investment banks to continually evaluate our funding requirements alongside market conditions
- Create materials for meetings with external constituents on a variety of subjects of topical interest
We expect you will spend a lot of time with our Investor Relations team, but will also periodically spend a fair amount of time on projects with other branches of our Finance department, such as Treasury, Portfolio Finance, Bank and Broker Management, as well as with Accounting.
About You

- Able to think strategically and analytically, and to review and synthesize information and form independent judgements
- Clear communicator with the confidence and ability to interact effectively with subject matter experts across the firm
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Skilled with the basics of Python and/or SQL, or willing to learn them
- Highly autonomous self-starter who can demonstrate sound judgment and initiative while keeping others informed as appropriate

What We Do
Jane Street works differently. As a liquidity provider and market maker, we trade on more than 200 trading venues across 45 countries and help form the backbone of global markets. Our approach is rooted in technology and rigorous quantitative analysis, but our success is driven by our people.
Our bright, beautiful offices in the heart of New York, London, Hong Kong, and Amsterdam are open and buzzing with conversation. We come from many backgrounds and encourage travel between offices to share perspectives. Some of our best ideas come from bumping into a visiting colleague at the office coffee bar.
Markets move fast. Staying competitive as we’ve grown has required constant invention—of new trading strategies, technology, and processes. We’ve found this is easier when you hire humble, kind people. They tend to help each other, and prioritize teamwork over titles.
We invest heavily in teaching and training. There’s a library and a classroom in every office, because deepening your understanding of something is considered real work. Guest lectures, classes, and conferences round out the intellectual exchanges that happen every day.
People grow into long careers at Jane Street because there are always new and interesting problems to solve, systems to build, and theories to test. More than twenty years after our founding, it still feels like we’re just getting started.
