Field-Support Engineer
Type: Full-time
Experience Level: Mid (5+ years)
Location: 50 - 80% travel in the USA. Some international travel may be required
About the Role
The Field Support Engineer will provide on-site support for client networks. The engineer must possess knowledge of network hardware, networking, software, and configuration. They will address tasks such as the testing, documenting, setting up, and installation of network hardware. They actively participate with clients in devising solutions to improve services.
Essential Functions
- Respond to all client queries.
- Collaborates with Company and external stakeholders to expedite maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
- Document all relevant departmental and field activities and resolve the complexities.
- Confer with customers in initial deployment troubleshooting, as well as in initial debugging of hardware and software.
- Support on-device application development and integration with back-end services.
- Focus on software development of client-side and server-side applications, data management, security implementation, and API development for integration with EHR platforms.
- Board development, schematic design, layout, production, and manufacturing processes
- Engineering Project Planning & Execution: Manage project timelines, and detailed documentation
- Troubleshooting test set-ups to find sources of error and perform failure analysis
- Analyze test data and provide report of findings
- Work will focus on firmware development of low-level drivers and application areas
- Development must follow LLT’s and applicable policies and procedures
- Managing stakeholder expectations and addressing concerns
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders
- Other tasks as assigned
Competencies
- Hands-on experience with system development, testing, and validation
- Strong knowledge and/or hands-on experience in the design and development of hardware systems, product development, and design for manufacturing
- Understanding of and can use Altium or similar schematic tools
- Hands-on experience with micro-controller development, preferred with ARM processors
- MATLAB Analysis or similar data analysis software experience preferred
- test and validate system hardware, firmware and software.
- Experience with C and/or Python languages preferred
- Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, test methodology and problem-solving skills
- Able to perform rapid prototyping on the customer side strongly preferred
- Excellent analytical and technical written communication skills
- Ability to work in a cross-functional and collaborative team environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ect.)
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years’ work experience, or a master's degree with a minimum of 7 years’ work experience preferred, in firmware engineering, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related degree.
- Experience in a regulated environment such as government or healthcare preferred.
- Service in US military preferred
Work Environment
- This job operates in a professional office environment It routinely uses standard office equipment (computers, etc.).
- It also operates in the “field,” including military bases and hospitals
Physical Demands
- In the office: Able to use office equipment, including computer, keyboard, mouse, and computer monitor. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- In the field: Can be a demanding physical environment where there may be erratic sleep schedules, prolonged periods of standing, and working outside in all types of weather conditions.
- Employees in this role must be in good physical condition. Required abilities include walking, lifting 50 to 100 lbs, bending, climbing, and stooping
- Must be able to travel by car and by plane
Expected Hours of Work
As required to accomplish the timeline. 50% to 80% of this role is spent traveling around the continental USA.
