Our Intelligence Systems, Mission Systems team is looking for a Field Service Representative to provide Offsite Field Service support of Fiber-optic Data Multiplex System (FODMS) and Gigabit-Ethernet Data Multiplex System (GEDMS) naval network products. Candidate will provide support to equipment end user, collaborating with other deployed field service representatives at Bath Iron Works (BIW) shipyard, Bath, Maine. Applicants must be willing to travel to field locations and accept Domestic/International Temporary Assignments at offsite locations and be willing to provide periodic duration at-sea support on surface vessels.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Work with team members to provide technical support for the installation and integration of company products and user systems onboard naval vessels. This will include working at remote sites domestically and abroad as a member of an installation team responsible for the installation, integration, and modification of equipment to meet customer requirements. Shipboard alteration experience desired as well as familiarity with shipyard procedures, safety and operations. Duties will include support with the physical installation of equipment as well as working with the customer and subcontractors to provide onsite documentation of installed systems. The team members will also provide recommendations for future modifications/enhancements for installation and operation.
  • Apply knowledge and develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Use troubleshooting tools and refer to policies, procedures, and practices for guidance (e.g., theory, operations, and maintenance; built-in test equipment and built-in monitoring interpretation; logistics support; systems integration, etc.) to support military ship data network systems.
  • Utilize multi-disciplined technical expertise and system knowledge to assist customers in the operation and maintenance of company products by investigating shipboard problems, determining causes, and developing and implementing corrective actions.
  • Understand customer expectations and assist in interpreting and using support data and documents (e.g., maintenance manuals, operating procedures, drawings, interactive electronic technical manuals) and provide technical and operational product data to in-plant organizations.
  • Communicate via detailed emails, procedures and work instructions with customers and waterfront personnel.
  • Provide technical on-the-job and informal sailor training and act as the on-site liaison between the company and customer personnel to resolve technical and operational issues.
  • Develop excellent relationships across multiple organizations and with all levels of commercial and military customer and company personnel to ensure customer satisfaction with company products and services.
  • Interact with internal personnel and external customers and represent the organization on specific projects.
  • Support the modification and upgrade of system assets, including the implementation of Engineering Changes and contractor modifications.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires an Active U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with support tools and test equipment (e.g., logic analyzers, network monitors, multi-meters, etc.).
  • Experience with the application of logistic support systems (e.g., shipping and receiving, spares databases, inventory control, etc.).
  • Experience with preventative and corrective maintenance principles.
  • Familiarity with international trade regulations and export compliance policies.
  • Willing to travel domestically, internationally and at-sea support on surface vessels. (Up to two times per year).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Level 2: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 3 or more years' related work experience.
  • Level 3: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 6 or more years' related work experience.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Experience developing relationships with immediate customers (e.g., operators, maintainers, and users) and understand their needs and expectations.

Level 2 - Summary pay range - $ 66,300 - $ 89,700
Level 3 - Summary pay range - $ 79,900 - $108,100
