We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Field Engineer to join our team on an onshore oil and gas development project. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support, overseeing on-site operations, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards, and serving as the primary technical liaison between the project management team and field crews. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Operational Execution:
- Provide day-to-day technical supervision and engineering support for drilling, completion, production, or construction activities (specify as needed, e.g., pipeline installation, well pad construction).
- Monitor and track field progress against the project schedule and budget, reporting deviations to the Project Manager.
- Interpret and implement engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures on the job site.
- Quality and Compliance:
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks to ensure all work meets engineering specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of field activities, including daily reports, equipment logs, and inspection results.
- Manage and track all change orders and Requests for Information (RFIs) originating from the field.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:
- Act as the first point of contact for resolving technical issues, design conflicts, and construction challenges encountered in the field.
- Collaborate with design engineers and contractors to develop and implement timely and effective solutions to maintain project momentum.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
- Champion a zero-incident safety culture and ensure all personnel and subcontractors adhere strictly to project HSE policies and procedures.
- Conduct pre-job safety meetings (JSA/JHA) and participate in site safety audits.
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards and environmental risks associated with site operations.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Liaise effectively with project managers, client representatives, contractors, vendors, and regulatory officials.
- Prepare and present technical reports on field performance, issues, and solutions.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of [3-5] years of experience as a Field Engineer, Site Engineer, or similar role, specifically within onshore oil and gas or heavy civil/industrial projects.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of onshore drilling, production, or construction processes and equipment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering documents (P&IDs, site plans, isometric drawings).
- Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote or challenging field environment for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various field locations.
The role is primarily field-based and may require working long hours, including nights and weekends, especially during critical operations phases. Work environment includes exposure to all weather conditions, noise, heavy equipment, and requires adherence to strict personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
