Role Summary:
Reporting to the APAC Sales Director, this position will play a pivotal role in working with customers including cutting-edge environmental scientists, industrial monitoring customers, and regulators for measuring hazardous air pollutants. This is a high-impact role that is critical to our goals of enabling scientists to better measure our planet, and to improve health by better measuring the pollutants in our communities. The ideal candidate for this position will be located in the Asia Pacific region (India, Korea, Japan, Australia), but will also travel to our headquarters in Santa Clara, CA. Your primary goal is to visit customers and help drive sales to close. Strong candidates based in Santa Clara, CA will be considered, but this position will involve significant travel.
The Field Applications Scientist will be responsible for the functions that drive top-line growth including, but not limited to, working with sales, product marketing, and worldwide marketing to support our growth in scientific instrument sales. You will travel to customer sites in Asia Pacific to engage in technical discovery and business development, often joining a partner. The Field Applications Scientist will help keep account managers informed of new markets and attend conferences and trade shows as needed. The Field Applications Scientist will develop meaningful relationships with customers and regulators to collaborate on new product breakthroughs.
You will:
- Travel to customer locations to perform on-site installs of newly purchased equipment.
- Join salespeople and partners on pre-sales calls to help identify customer needs and figure out the right solution.
- Measurements in customer labs and Picarro headquarters for method development.
- Travel to our factory in Santa Clara, CA, you will also help the product line with new product developments and lab setups as needed.
- Provide documentation of standard operating procedures for proper use of analyzers for repeatable and reliable measurement. Proper writing and documentation skills are critical.
- Travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners and to develop key relationships.
Must-have qualifications:
- PhD in earth or geosciences is preferred (but BS/MS degrees with experience will be considered), with a preference for experience in atmospheric science or air pollution. This is an ideal role to transition from academia to industry.
- Hands-on experience with laser optical instruments, isotope ratio mass spectrometry, or other types of gas analyzers is preferred.
- Excellent collaboration, documentation, presentation, and communication skills. Must either live in the region of APAC, or live in Santa Clara, CA, and be willing to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Must be eligible to travel to the United States, or eligible to obtain a VISA.

Salary & Benefits:
Your base salary range and title will be determined based on the location, experience, qualification, skills, knowledge, level, and pay of employees in similar positions.
