FET Educator
Lion Pride Academy is looking to appoint an FET Educator to commence duties on 1 January 2027.

The FET Educator at Lion Pride Academy plays a critical role in preparing learners for further education, employment, entrepreneurship, and responsible participation in society. The educator delivers rigorous, CAPS-aligned instruction while developing learners' subject mastery, critical thinking, independence, and readiness for life beyond school.
The ideal candidate combines strong subject expertise with the ability to inspire teenagers to take ownership of their academic journey and future goals. As part of the Lion Pride vision, the educator encourages learners to become confident, responsible, innovative, and entrepreneurial young adults who are equipped to identify opportunities and contribute meaningfully to society.
We are looking for an experienced and inspiring FET Teacher to join our academic team. This position is ideal for a passionate educator who is committed to academic excellence and understands the importance of preparing learners for tertiary education, vocational pathways, entrepreneurship, and the world of work.
FET Teacher responsibilities are:
Curriculum Delivery
- Plan and deliver high-quality, CAPS-aligned lessons for Grades 10–12.
- Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and ensure effective curriculum coverage.
- Prepare learners thoroughly for internal and external assessments and examinations.
- Develop higher-order thinking, problem-solving, research, analysis, and independent learning skills.
- Connect subject content to real-world applications, careers, tertiary education, entrepreneurship, and the workplace.
- Integrate appropriate technology and innovative teaching strategies into the learning environment.
Learner Assessment and Support
- Develop and administer formal and informal assessments in accordance with CAPS and school requirements.
- Analyse assessment results to identify strengths, gaps, and areas requiring intervention.
- Provide timely and meaningful academic feedback.
- Implement differentiated support and intervention strategies where required.
- Monitor learner progress and work collaboratively with academic support staff.
- Support learners in developing effective study, examination, and time-management skills.
Classroom Management
- Create a structured, professional, respectful, and academically focused classroom environment.
- Maintain high standards of discipline, responsibility, participation, and academic achievement.
- Encourage learners to take ownership of their education and future.
- Develop resilience, confidence, accountability, leadership, and a growth mindset.
- Establish positive professional relationships with FET learners while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Career and Future Readiness
- Support learners in understanding career pathways and post-school opportunities.
- Encourage entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, and problem-solving.
- Help learners recognise the practical relevance of their subjects and skills.
- Participate in initiatives that support tertiary, vocational, employment, and entrepreneurial readiness.
Parental and Community Engagement
- Communicate professionally with parents regarding academic progress, behaviour, and learner development.
- Participate in parent meetings, school events, projects, and extracurricular activities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and management to support learner achievement.
- Contribute to a positive and professional school culture.
Professional Development
- Participate in school-based professional development and collaborative planning.
- Engage in reflective practice and continuous improvement.
- Remain informed about CAPS requirements, subject developments, assessment practices, and educational technology.
- Contribute to academic planning, curriculum development, and school improvement initiatives.
FET Teacher requirements are:
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) specialising in the appropriate FET subjects OR a relevant degree with a PGCE specialising in the appropriate subjects.
- Current SACE registration and police clearance certificate.
- Excellent knowledge of the CAPS curriculum and FET assessment requirements.
- Strong subject knowledge and a proven ability to prepare learners for external examinations.
- Strong planning, assessment, differentiation, and classroom management skills.
- Technologically literate with the ability to integrate digital tools into teaching and learning.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to inspire, challenge, and motivate teenage learners.
- Energetic, reliable, professional, and committed to academic excellence.
- A commitment to developing future leaders, entrepreneurs, and responsible young adults.

Skills Required
