POSITION OVERVIEW

The Festival Liaison, Public Relations is charged with organizing publicity and artist team relationships for films, events, artists, and Institute programs showcased at the Sundance Film Festival. Handling a selection of assigned films and projects, this position will be the main publicity touch point between all film and project teams and internal departments, both leading up to and onsite at the Festival. This includes facilitating key assets workflow, handling all incoming publicity related inquiries, overseeing press lines on the ground at the Festival, and coordinating with media on coverage of the Festival curated programs as needed, among other responsibilities. The Festival Liaison works closely under the direction of the Publicist.

This temporary position works full time (40 hours per week) from Wednesday, November 4, 2026 to Tuesday, February 2, 2027 and requires extended hours, including evenings and weekends to meet key deadlines and respond to on-call needs as assigned. The majority of this position’s work can be conducted remotely out of any of our operating states, until the department comes together in Boulder, CO in January to support the in-person elements of the Festival.

Top priorities include but are not limited to…

  • Liaising with publicity, film, and artist teams to compile publicity information, maintain the Festival database, and share with other departments as needed for key elements of the Festival.

  • Drafting media materials, project communications, and information.

  • Collaborating on press announcements, organizing and proofreading project information, managing external and internal review processes.

  • Acting as the main point of contact for external teams representing many projects across the Festival program, including gathering relevant details, coordinating logistics for film premieres, and collaborating on execution of the press line (red carpets).

  • Leading press lines and photo calls onsite, as well as organizing and managing press participation at assigned events. Coordinating press line materials to be provided to media.

  • Managing media and supporting volunteers onsite at events.

  • Participating directly in media outreach on the program themes.

  • Providing information, interviews, and other resources and receiving and routing inbound requests from media.

  • Tracking media coverage and screening reports for assigned films and artists.

  • Informing assigned external teams of updates and key details related to their film/project.

  • Securing materials needed to publicize assigned films and events.

  • Completing a comprehensive written wrap report.

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • 2 years experience in public relations, media relations, communications, or special event publicity.

  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate and work effectively with a variety of people.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize with strong time management skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information.

  • Working knowledge of databases along with proficiency in Google Products preferred.

  • Experience with large event public relations and knowledge of film and the film industry preferred.

Skills Required
