POSITION OVERVIEW

The Festival Coordinator is charged with supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of New Frontier programming for the Sundance Film Festival.

Working closely under the Chief Curator and the New Frontier programming team, this position supports the day-to-day coordination of New Frontier programming and related activities to help ensure the successful delivery of the program.

This temporary position works full time (40 hours per week) from Monday, September 21, 2026, to Friday, February 26, 2027 and requires extended hours, including evenings and weekends to meet key deadlines and respond to on-call needs as assigned. The majority of this position’s work can be conducted remotely out of any of our operating states, until the department comes together in Boulder, CO in January to support the in-person elements of the Festival.

Top priorities include but are not limited to…

  • Facilitating administrative support to the team, including coordinating scheduling for the Chief Curator.

  • Corresponding with producers, directors, sales agents, and distributors on behalf of the Institute for New Frontier.

  • Building and maintaining tracking documents for eligible New Frontier projects.

  • Managing the New Frontier email inbox, responding to inquiries appropriately following outlined procedures.

  • Serving as a primary point of contact to facilitate timely communication between the Programming Department and New Frontier applicants regarding important updates, deadlines, and requests.

  • Updating the programming database with accurate information on New Frontier projects currently in production, as well as generating and distributing reports as requested.

  • Acting as a key liaison for the New Frontier program with interdepartmental communications including Digital Team/ Publications, Marcoms, Press, Artist Relations, Production

  • Embracing additional duties as they arise.

  • Supporting the New Frontier programming process by organizing project materials, maintaining records, and coordinating information and resources needed for project review and selection.

  • Supporting the coordination and execution of New Frontier programming and related activities during the Festival, including responding to operational and program needs as assigned.

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:

  • 2 years of work experience successfully coordinating administrative processes.

  • Strong communication skills with an ability to interact with a wide range of constituents and work effectively with a variety of people internally and externally.

  • Organizational skills, including the ability to work independently and understand when to seek clarification.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information.

  • Working knowledge of databases, Excel, and proficiency in Google Products preferred.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Outstanding supplementary, not required, skills may include…

  • Expertise operating XR Gear (ie. Metaquest, Pico, HTC Vive, etc.).

  • Experience with technical Android Package Kit (APK) builds, software platforms used in Extended Reality (XR) demos.

  • Experience and/or interest in cutting edge technology platforms (ie. WebXR, Mixed Reality, and AI.)

  • The ability to embrace change when it occurs in order to move projects and tasks forward.

  • Research acumen with respect to New Frontier artists and their projects, for researching new technologies and troubleshooting to resolve issues quickly.
