Smallholder farmers grow most of the world’s coffee and cocoa, yet they remain largely invisible to the supply chains they support and rarely share in the value they create. Enveritas exists to change that.
Enveritas measures and assesses sustainability of production on farms, and builds solutions and interventions to make smallholder agriculture more sustainable and improve farmer livelihoods. Working across more than 20 countries, we combine machine learning, remote sensing, and rigorous fieldwork to understand supply chain sustainability and farmer livelihoods — and use that knowledge to design and run interventions that move the needle. We are a remote-first and dedicated team drawn from leading consultancies, tech companies, commodity traders, development organizations, and data science.
The fellowshipThis is an opportunity to receive a crash course in the organization’s mission-driven, highly dynamic work to support smallholders. It is a one-year, full-time, embedded role working alongside our teams on the ground. For this demanding and formative year, we are looking for exceptional early career candidates with the drive to learn fast, tackle hard problems, and deliver measurable and meaningful impact.
The fellowship includes:
- A base at origin, rotating between projects and countries in cycles. Potential locations include Africa (Uganda, Ethiopia, or Côte d’Ivoire), Latin America (potentially Guatemala or Honduras), South East Asia.
- Housing and travel to country team locations
- On-the-job training and close mentorship
- Exposure to the full arc of impact work — from research and design through to implementation and evaluation
You will support the identification, design, and delivery of interventions that improve outcomes for smallholder farmers and their communities. In practice, that means:
- Researching and analyzing sustainability challenges and candidate interventions — assessing evidence, quantifying potential impact, and supporting decision-making
- Supporting the design of initiatives: contributing to planning, pilot design, and partner engagement
- Working in the field alongside farming communities, partners, and local teams to support program delivery
- Monitoring and evaluating results, tracking progress against objectives, and surfacing insights that inform what comes next
- Collaborating with the broader team — across data, technology, operations, and field teams
Enveritas will invest heavily in your growth through close mentorship from the team.
What we’re looking for- Early-career candidates with exceptional academic record — recent graduates or those with up to a few years of experience
- A degree in science, engineering, or a related quantitative field (preferred) — or a strong quantitative track record from another discipline
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data; familiarity with basic statistics and the scientific method; exposure to R, Python, or similar is an advantage
- The ability to structure problems and communicate clearly — in writing, in analysis, and in conversation
- Some experience working in fast-paced, multicultural, or independent settings — academic, professional, or otherwise.
- A ruthlessly positive attitude — the kind that lets you aim high, absorb setbacks, and keep moving when things don’t go to plan
- Real appetite for fieldwork and genuine motivation to alleviate poverty
- Language skills in our areas of operation an asset
We are looking to close recruitment of fellows by September 2026, but potential for flexibility in the start date (including earlier) depending on needs and availability.
