  1. SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the direction and coordination of activities relating to the planning, procurement, controlling, and distribution of materials and products meeting the company’s objectives and customer requirements. He / She will supervise the scheduling process internally and externally while working closely with the Production Manager to support their manufacturing requirements and by ensuring on time delivery. This individual will also plan, schedule and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements, and deliver manufactured products in a timely manner.

 

  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Cooperates with other top management personnel in formulating and establishing site specific policies, operating procedures, and goals pertaining to maintaining or exceeding customer quality requirements
  • Responsible for the following Key Metrics/Goals for the Department:
    • Zero Line Stops for Material Issues
    • Average 5 days on hand for all materials
      • Finished Goods – 3.3
      • Semi-Finished Goods – 4.5
      • Components – 15
      • Chemicals - 5
    • Annual Department Turnover rate of less than 10%
    • Monthly transportation costs of $1.5% of sales
    • Monthly working capital (raw and finished goods inventory) SAP value of $ $2.0m
    • Zero recordable accidents and submission of all accident reports in less than 24 hours
    • 3% annual cost reductions
    • Incoming Quality < 5 ppm
  • Leads the Materials team and serves as the management representative for materials department related matters.
  • Organizes, supervises, and directs the work of logistical and scheduling personnel engaged in receiving, storing, shipping, scheduling production and delivering supplies and equipment
  • Analyzes contractual commitments, customer specifications, design changes, and other data to plan and develop logistic program activities from conceptual stage through life cycle of product
  • Develops and implements program activities, coordinates efforts of subcontractors, production departments, and field service personnel, and resolves problems in the area of logistics to ensure meeting of contractual commitments
  • Oversees the purchasing and/or contracting for materials, supplies, equipment, and services for the operation of the plant
  • Responsible for production schedules, make decisions concerning inventory and staffing, while communicating with Production department and Plant Manager.
  • Participates in the continuing exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, pricing, continuity and delivery
  • Prepares and issues purchase orders and change orders
  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
  • Oversees all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity
  • Ensure correct shipments of international orders and hazardous material orders
  • In concert with Human Resources, provides Materials department related training for employees in the Materials department.
  • Knowledge in SAP Conduct audits and assessments to identify potential areas of risk and develop mitigation
    strategies. Understand and maintain audit compliance as it relates to the Maintenance Planner function. This would
    include the most currently applicable IATF 16949, ISO, and TISAX standard.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines established by the company. Encourage safe practices and a safety-first mindset among coworkers.
  • Participates in the APQP and PPAP process
  • Additional duties as needed and assigned.
  • Knowledge in SAP Conduct audits and assessments to identify potential areas of risk and develop mitigation
    strategies. Understand and maintain audit compliance as it relates to the Supply Chain Manager function. This would include the most currently applicable IATF 16949, ISO, and TISAX standard.

  1. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leads a small group of subordinates to meet the overall goals of the Materials department.

 

  1. QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in related field is required.  Five to 7 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must be self-motivated and possess basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products (namely Excel).  Customer relations experience is strongly preferred. Prior 5S and SAP training / experience is preferred.

 

  1. LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or regulatory agencies.

 

  1. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of algebra, trigonometry, geometry and statistical theory.

 

  1. REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer.  Required travel will consist of traveling from plant to plant (Fehrer, Supplier, Customer), including international travel may be required

Skills Required
