Job SummaryThe Feasibility Study Lead / Independent Engineer will lead the technical, economic, regulatory, and environmental analysis necessary to determine project viability and investor readiness. This role bridges engineering, market economics, and permitting insights to produce objective, bankable reports and due diligence packages that support financing and stakeholder confidence.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the preparation of feasibility studies for utility-scale power projects and supporting infrastructure
- Conduct detailed analysis of site conditions, interconnection pathways, resource potential, and technology selection
- Oversee engineering assessments, EPC review, and capital cost modeling
- Evaluate permitting requirements, environmental impact constraints, and construction risks
- Produce Independent Engineer reports used in financing, lender due diligence, and investor validation
- Coordinate inputs from engineering, environmental, legal, and financial advisors
- Provide risk analysis and mitigation recommendations for both technical and non-technical challenges
- Represent BaRupOn in meetings with investors, lenders, and regulatory agencies as needed
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), Energy Systems, or related field
- 7+ years in infrastructure feasibility, independent engineering, or energy consulting
- Experience with solar, gas, or hybrid power plant projects and EPC workflows
- Familiarity with feasibility frameworks (e.g., IRR, DSCR, NPV), resource modeling (e.g., PVsyst, HOMER), and cost benchmarking
- Knowledge of permitting and regulatory environments (NEPA, CEQA, FERC, EPA)
- Strong writing and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- PE license or equivalent engineering certification strongly preferred
- Experience with lender-side Independent Engineer roles a plus
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and interface with financiers and technical reviewers
- Proficiency in MS Project, AutoCAD, and financial modeling tools a plus
