We infuse a commitment to civic engagement, equality, and communal action into each of our programs, which include early childhood education, youth development, healthy aging, mental health and wellness, English classes for adult immigrants, community centers, and the arts.
Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary liaison between after-school program staff and school-day staff to ensure alignment with the school-day curriculum.

Collaborate with the Program Director to develop and select curricula appropriate to the developmental needs of children in an after-school setting.

Partner with the Program Director to identify instructional themes and objectives aligned with school curriculum.

Design, plan, and facilitate high-quality, relevant staff training and professional development sessions.

Research, develop, and coordinate the implementation of age-appropriate, standards-based curricula (e.g., thematic, and project-based learning) to support engaging and enriching activities.

Lead staff development sessions for Group Leaders and Activity Specialists to ensure understanding and effective delivery of curriculum content.

Provide ongoing instructional support to staff by sharing best practices, educational resources, and strategies for successful curriculum implementation.

Conduct regular observations of program activities, provide constructive feedback, and use assessment results to inform professional development planning.

Partner with school administration to identify and implement assessment methods to evaluate the educational program effectiveness.

Promote student growth in literacy and numeracy, while fostering interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

Support program staff through observations, effective supervision, coaching, training, and professional development.

Ensure compliance with DYCD professional development requirements, including:
-
Planning and delivering required annual training hours (129 hours for COMPASS Elementary; 108 hours for SONYC)

Facilitating training during evenings, weekends, DOE closures, and holidays, as required
-

Maintain flexibility and availability for mandatory trainings and organizational compliance activities outside of standard school-day schedules.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

New York State Teaching Certification preferred.

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a supervisory, leadership, or oversight role, including:

Staff supervision, training, and coaching
-
Program or curriculum development
-
-
Experience in an administrative or leadership role within an after-school or community-based program.

Strong knowledge of NYC Department of Education Learning Standards, including familiarity with the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts.

Demonstrated experience in curriculum planning, development, and implementation.

Experience facilitating professional development and training sessions.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills (verbal and written).

Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and crisis intervention skills.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to a dynamic program environment.

Strong coaching and mentorship skills with the ability to support diverse staff.

Work Schedule: Partial Year Part Time, Monday - Friday, 9 hours per week
