Boeing's Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) organization is currently seeking a Facilities Civil-Structural Engineer, at either Experienced or Senior level, to join our Projects Assets Construction & Engineering (PACE) team in North Charleston, SC!
This is an opportunity to work with outstanding facilities operation, learn new skills, become part of our enterprise Facilities Engineering and Technology team, collaborate with technical councils and influence the future of facilities engineering at Boeing. This role involves guiding reactive equipment repairs (hands on), supporting planning and construction projects (requirements definition and project oversight) and exploring opportunities to improve site infrastructure. This position will focus on structural design & structural and seismic analysis for building systems and equipment support, including foundation design, roadway repair and building modifications; as well as providing support to large equipment installation projects.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Lead project teams to develop moderately complex conceptual designs, final designs, cost estimates and provide maintenance support for the structural phases of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems and grounds including advanced seismic designs
  • Review structural/seismic designs to assess compliance with customer requirements, building codes and regulations by applying knowledge of construction principles, practices, and materials
  • Lead teams to ensure accuracy of drawing archives/libraries by reviewing contractor redlines
  • Identify errors and document construction changes to align with regulatory requirements, facility standards and record retention requirements
  • Lead production or procurement of detailed design documents
  • Use appropriate resources to produce project drawings, specifications and permit application packages in accordance with project parameters
  • Coordinate designs; review and approve documents
  • Provide recommendations for strategic, short-term and long-term infrastructure planning; complete studies; analyze current conditions and future requirements; recommend capital improvements; gather and analyze data and work with both internal and external customers to identify and assess alternatives and impacts
  • Lead in interpretation and analysis of regulations, standards, codes and ordinances with respect to project requirements
  • Translate customer requirements into conceptual design by analyzing intended use/occupancy and desired aesthetics, conducting code research, developing preliminary design elements, determining interdisciplinary engineering support requirements, estimating resource costs/requirements, identifying materials, equipment and services, and developing initial project schedule to establish project scope
  • Offer project alternatives to ensure compliance
  • Provide support to secure permits

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 3+ years of experience in a Civil and/or Structural Engineering role
  • 3+ years of experience using AutoCAD or similar software
  • 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design)
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in design, analysis and evaluation of building structures, including foundations, roofing, framing, floors, equipment supports, seismic bracing, roadways, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience leading construction projects
  • 5+ years of experience with building and safety codes
  • 5+ years of experience leading cross functional engineering teams
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience working in a production environment

Summary Pay Range for Experienced Level: $103,700 - $140,300
Summary Pay Range for Senior Level: $126,650 - $171,350
