Lumentum is seeking an experienced FA and Rework Engineer to join the Communication and Commercial Optical Products business unit. In this role the candidate will be responsible for process development, quality control and failure analysis. The candidate will interface with different groups within Lumentum, including product engineers, R&D engineers, equipment engineers, manufacturing process engineers, to maintain and improve legacy and new product introductions.
The successful candidate should be self-motivated, a creative thinker, exhibit drive for success, be process and systems oriented, hands on, manage with clear and concise data, and work well within a cross function team.
In this role, the candidate will also:
- Component Level Troubleshooting: Analyze electronic circuits and individual components on PCBs to pinpoint faults and failures.
- PCB and transceiver module inspection: Inspect PCBs and modules for visible defects, such as solder bridges, cold joints, component placement errors, and component damages.
- Failure Analysis: Perform failure analysis on transceiver module, including assessing optical components, electronics, and mechanical parts for any defect or malfunction.
- Utilize Testing Equipment: Use a variety of testing and diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, frequency analyzers, spectrometers, and specialized testing equipment.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of your analysis, findings, and solutions. Create comprehensive failure analysis reports.
- Repair and Rework: Perform necessary repairs or rework on PCBs to rectify identified faults. This may involve soldering, desoldering, and component replacement.
- Data Analysis: Analyze test data from both PCBs and transceiver module and collect relevant data points to aid in identifying trends or recurring issues.
- Quality Control: Ensure that repaired or reworked PCBs and transceiver module meet quality standards and specifications. Liaise with Quality to analyze statistics of failure and take corrective actions to reduce reoccurrence.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree or above. Major in Electronics Engineering, Optoelectronics, Physics, Fiber Communication
- 5+ years for Bachelor, 3+ years for Master work experience in test engineering of optoelectronic devices, transceiver, transponder, or fiber optics communication industries is desired.
- Familiar to statistics analysis tool (at least one of Minitab, JMP, SQL, Python)
- Knowledge on circuit diagram and electronic component.
- Data analysis and report preparation skills.
- Track record of delivering innovative solutions to challenging problems.
- Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team.
- Excellent interpersonal skill, leadership, and teamwork.
- Willingness to work on a flexible schedule and occasional overseas travel.
- Written and oral communication skills in English.
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability for creative thinking.
