Compensation: 
$70,000.00 to $80,000.00 (DOE)

Position Summary: The Extraction Shift Supervisor will lead extraction operations during a shift at Vantage Hemp Co., reporting directly to the Extraction Manager. This position is involved in setting up equipment and developing extraction and purification parameters, extraction processes, documentation, and systems. The Extraction Supervisor serves as a critical leader of the extraction operation and will drive extraction activities and up to 15 direct reports. This position drives improvement activities, including the development and maintenance of comprehensive operating procedures. The position partners with the QA/QC groups to make recommendations, set goals, and implement process improvements. Another key component of the role is effectively leading a team and facilitating learning and development opportunities for the greater organization.
Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities:
  • Analyzes production requirements and work assignments based upon capacity to achieve production schedule and departmental objectives.
  • Promotes an environment of continual improvement and open communication with all levels of staff.
  • Maintains monthly and weekly production schedules while monitoring quality control to ensure high quality, repeatable, and accurate results.
  • Follows all SOP's and Company policies for maintaining GMP compliance.
  • Assists processing team with tasks, including hemp drying and decarb, hydrocarbon extraction, supercritical CO2 extraction, short path distillation, and crystallization as needed.
  • Provides day to day guidance to fellow employees, acting as a first-line resource for questions and/or problem-solving of routine issues.
  • Keeps the Extraction Manager informed of employee concerns.
  • Troubleshoots issues causing the breakdown of machines or equipment.
  • Executes and coordinates employee training to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements.
  • Enforces safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Reports problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials, and labor to Extraction Manager and/or QA team.
  • Works closely with support staff such as engineers, supervisors, and QA to resolve issues.
  • Updates production metrics and facilitates regular team communication.
  • Identifies and supports continuous improvement efforts with the production supervisor.
  • Works with QA to develop and implement programs to establish and maintain quality standards of products, as well as developing programs to focus employees on quality improvement.
  • Provides focus on the quality by instilling a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ensures implementation of the corporate training program.
  • Participates in staff recruitment and development, ensuring all team members have set appropriate goals and objectives.
  • Investigates all adverse events, errors, and complaints, documenting investigations and determining root causes.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Education

  • High School Diploma required, advanced education in STEM highly preferred.

Experience

  • Three plus, years in a supervisory or leadership role in a manufacturing environment (hemp extraction preferred).
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and experience developing teams.

Specialized Skills:

  • Familiar with GMP regulations and principles.
  • Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality control, and cost control to maximize the effective manufacture of goods.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools as well as their use and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles; selection, training, and leadership techniques; production methods; and coordination of people and resources.
  • Ability to successfully pass a thorough background check before hiring and each successive year during employment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills and organizational skills.
  • Logical in thought and detail focused.
  • Analytical approach to problem-solving and decision making.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Work Hours: Hours vary and are dependent on business needs, scheduling 10-hour shifts, 4 days a week. Hours worked per week may vary with the workload. Evening and weekend work is required as needed to satisfy the requirements of the job.
